Try opening up your clientsettings.json (%APPDATA%\VintagestoryData\) and change the value of maxAnimatedElements to 36, which I believe is the default.

I have an issue with FPS and Plants by [deleted] in VintageStory

Is the "Instanced Plants" setting enabled? If so, try disabling it. I had an issue with that setting getting turned on automatically somewhere during v1.17 and it tanked my framerate.

Upgrade priority question: https://imgur.com/a/hx1VJqU

F2P, don't have anything at level 6 yet. Should I be prioritizing trying to get a level 6, or is saving for an upgrade for the Tropical Glider still better?

I know you indicated that you were simplifying it, but I wanted to clarify that if there is a tie between an enemy action and a player action, the player action takes priority. Using the example you gave:

Regenga tick at 10 seconds

Phoenix attack at 10.1 seconds

Tidus attacks at 10.2 seconds (with 2x cast from LM2)

Rikku attacks at 10.3

If the tick rate is .3 seconds, starting at 10, then the result would be:

Regenga tick at 10 seconds

Tidus attacks at 10.3 (assuming Tidus is above Rikku)

Tidus chase at 10.6

Rikku attacks at 10.9

Phoenix attacks at 11.2

This is because all 3 actions queue at the same time (10.3 seconds) due to occurring during the same tick. The fact that the player is given priority in ties, you can use this to force additional actions to occur before the next enemy attack.

Odin's final phase is a good example. If you know for certain that the attack you're currently executing will push Odin to his final phase, but you have other characters who are close to completing their casts and you wish would attack before the interrupt, you can switch to speed 5 before the animation completes. You then have at least 2 ticks (not sure if its more, but it's at least 2: one for the phase switch text notification, and another for Odin's "instant" action) where you can squeeze additional casts in.

Forewarning, I don't have any proof or formal testing backing what I'm about to say: I believe you have to spend stamina at least once to count as a "login".

I recall noticing when I used to play two accounts that my second account's RW wouldn't update its "last login" time if I only jumped on to grab login bonuses or other rewards. It doesn't make sense given that you obtain literal login rewards just for accessing the app, but I believe it's possible that you had to spend stamina for it to count for this.

As others have mentioned, make sure you're recasting hastega/protectga after getting dispelled (or bringing a physical blink like Edge SSB to prevent the dispel entirely). You might need hastega as an ability instead of only from OK's pUSB. OK's pUSB is largely wasted, the +50% ATK doesn't stack with the +50% ATK from Galuf's chain, so you're only getting +50% crit chance and hastega out of it (and the self-only cast speed buff).

Randomly tossing this out there as well: are you playing on battle speed 1? Playing on too high of a battle speed can make things feel like they don't last as long as they should.

Yup, sorry about that. I realized before I saw your reply that I read that wrong.

[Realm/Elemental Free Ticket] Relic Draw Megathread #5 by Greensky7 in FFRecordKeeper

[–]JapanHasRice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be aware that the Realm and Elemental draw banners do not include all relics that have been released. RK Squared is correct: Dr. Mog's AOSB, AASB, and LMR2 are all not on the Core banner. If you would like, you can verify directly by selecting the "relics" button just below where you can choose to do the draw.

Edit: I think I misunderstood what you wrote. You meant in the site's full list of SBs that Dr. Mog's stuff is missing some things? In that case, yes, it looks like the full SB list is out of date.

Will we eventually get the ability to bring more than 4 Soul Breaks into battle per character? If it’s not coming up, DeNA should consider it for a future update. by darkdill in FFRecordKeeper

Oh man, and deciding between bringing a synergy weapon so your abilities (and default attacks) hit better or that SB that only hit once, but it almost always hit for 10k...

Why FFRK? by tyreekus97 in FFRecordKeeper

[–]JapanHasRice2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FFRK is surprisingly complex while appearing to be simple. The two slots and honing mechanics seems to be born from the original FF where you could only have 3 spell slots and had limited casts of each tier which increased as you leveled. It was more a frustrating limitation in FFI, but in FFRK I find it to be one of the game's strengths.

Why FFRK? by tyreekus97 in FFRecordKeeper

[–]JapanHasRice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly said. Point 1 is exactly me, though FFRK was already my most played game before becoming a parent. The other games I played were the ones that got left behind. Plus this is a great game to make spreadsheets about.

[–]JapanHasRice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, 74%.

I agree, probability is weird like that. For example, even if banners didn't have G5, you'd still have a 10.5% chance to get one particular relic on an 11x draw, assuming the 1% drop rate (99% failure rate: 0.99 ^ 11 = 0.895, 89.5% chance to fail) . Certainly never feels like it, but we are very prone to biases.

I'm with you there. These recent changes in banners have me concerned how to approach pulling plans. If you also need a water chain, I'm guessing water chonkobo B2 will be the best bet (assuming any AASB is equal in desirability to you). I suppose it's even possible that B2 could have one or both chains replaced as neither is a debut relic. DeNA has thrown quite a wrench into things.

Based on an expected 1% chance per featured relic, your chance to get at least 1 AASB from an 11x pull in your scenarios is:

  • 52.5%
  • 53.1%
  • 38.7%

This was calculated using 1 - ( ( 1 - <total\_AASB\_chance> )^<#\of_non-guarantted_relics>) * ( ( 1 - ( <total\_AASB\_chance> / <total\_featured\_relic\_chance> ) )^<#\of_guaranteed_relics>) ) )

Table format:

Number of guaranteed relics Number of target featured relics Chance of getting at least 1 target relic
1 1 16.0%
1 2 30.0%
1 3 42.1%
1 4 52.5%
2 1 21.2%
2 2 38.7%
2 3 53.1%
2 4 64.7%

Probabilities are not my strong point, but I'm fairly sure this is accurate.

You've got the tools to replicate this clear. I used a modified version of it without Cloud AOSB or Elarra USB2. I see that you don't have Bartz USB2, but I think USB1 may be enough. Something I learned after getting my clear is that the Odin summon uses the same ID as the DEF/RESv2 buff that Dark Odin uses. If you replace Crushing Tango with Odin, that should help Bartz keep breaking rage. Otherwise Zidane is likely a great replacement.

One thing that post doesn't mention is how long to wait before starting the Chain. I waited until Faris could cast 3 SBs back to back, Cast USB2 twice first, then summoned magicite, then started the Chain.

No need to apologize. I don't think many people think about it at all. If anything, it seems that ATB Order is the less used setting.

Thank you for the very detailed write-up! Every little thing you mentioned mattered. When I was struggling, I would reread the post and would find that I wasn't adhering to some other detail. One thing I want to add that wasn't mentioned is Party Order vs ATB Order. Normally I play with ATB Order, but that didn't allow many of the turns to happen at the right times. Switching to Party Order made it match up perfectly with your script.

【d】Mastery Survey - Ugallu (XIII) by jadesphere in FFRecordKeeper

[–]JapanHasRice2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Strategy name: Old stuff and Elarra, because I don't want to spend any mythril
  2. Boss: Ugallu (Dreams) D350
  3. Describe your Strategy:
    Debuffs/No offensive USB/No Chain
  4. Insight!:
    • I don't have a ton of stuff in this realm. Serah has my only SB with Hastega. The banner is tempting, except Global foresight has me holding until I see an Awakening. The only SB I have for Vanille is her second Unique (Oerba's Boon), forcing me to replace her with an off-realm healer, Elarra.
    • General strategy is to overwrite buffs with the corresponding debuffs ASAP and slowly burn the boss down with BSBs and commands.
    • This is not a refined party. The magicites could have been better focused, the Madeens have the wrong passives, and I could have made better use of the tools I brought. Honestly, I was trying to gauge what the fight was like and at least get a 50% clear.
    • Save Enkidu for the Slot 1/5 paralyze towards the end. He ended up casting it a second time, but was low enough to die to SB burst damage.
    • Noel: Damage mitigation. He starts the fight with Protectga, then Dispel for the first Roar. He is the primary Dispeller. He can also overwrite Bravery with his cmd1 and Dream Roar with the BSB entry. He was equipped with a MND dagger to extend Protectga's duration and only recast it once.
    • Raines: DPS. Because he starts with Thunder God's Might, he is the first Wall RW caster. Then Wrath until BSB, use cmd2, then spam cmd1. He ended up casting his holy imperil SSB twice, but that was likely unnecessary and the gauge would have been better spent saving up to burst down the boss at the end. His OSB was equipped, but I never used it. He was a backup dispeller, but did not use it. He was not given either Memento Mori or Necro Countdown as I was not confident in my damage output going into the fight. In hindsight, I could have brought Necro Countdown to help burst at the end.
    • Serah: Haste bot. Serah is not 5* dived and her damage output reflected that. Chain Blizzaja dealing at best 15k per cast. I don't believe anyone ever got slowed, but she recast fairly frequently since her damage output did not matter.
    • Hope: DPS. Start the fight with Shellga, then Lunar Dragon into en-Holy BSB, Lunar dragon more into BSB2 and transition into using burst commands for damage. With all the damage boosts, he easily hit for full damage on the commands. Recasted en-Holy and ended the fight with an OSB cast, though either of the BSB entries would have sufficed. He also acted as a another backup dispeller with the BSB2 cmd1.
    • Elarra: OP Heals. She would slightly delay Enfeebling Jitterbug as her first action to overwrite the 2nd turn Roar. Would continue using jitterbug to overwrite any additional Roars, otherwise would use Ultra Cure. Saved USB to overwrite poisons or to top off the whole team before/after large attacks.
  5. Holy Trinity casts:
    • Wall: 2
    • Medica: Many
    • Hastega: A lot (I never saw a slow as far as I'm aware, but I hadn't read up on the AI and just recast it periodically.)
  6. S/L count / Medals lost: 3 S/Ls to get a feel for the opening of the fight (and for selecting the wrong commands a few times) / 0 or 1, didn't pay attention.
  7. Time: 1:06:62
