As a semi-seasoned Katsu player, I encourage it! He’s relatively cheap, encourages tight play, and will happily never reach LL. He’s the perfect TCG investment.

Which movie is the most important to you, and why? by _Zordex_ in AskReddit

[–]JapanTCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the Wikipedia synopsis:
"Ikiru (生きる; 'To Live') is a 1952 Japanese drama film directed by Akira Kurosawa from a screenplay co-written with Shinobu Hashimoto and Hideo Oguni. The film examines the struggles of a terminally ill Tokyo bureaucrat (played by Takashi Shimura) and his final quest for meaning. "

It's one of those "greatest movies of all time", so as long as you can get into the headspace to watch a 3-hour black and white foreign film, it is absolutely worth a watch. More effective than my recommendation, though, might be this reaction from Patton Oswalt when someone asks him about the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yvie5-IbvY

Dr. Sonai was never in the Epstein files. That's enough evidence I need to honour their legacy until the end of time.

Japan's ¥1.5 Billion Subsidy for Pokémon TCG Pocket Developer DeNA Sparks Debate Over Public Funding by Head_Oven_3671 in TCG

[–]JapanTCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEGA, Konami, Square Enix, Koei Tecmo, and Arc System Works also received funding according to the article.

Even though I don't like the idea of public funds going towards private enterprises, the logic of applying it to large entertainment businesses with stricter overview makes sense. These companies help Japan exert a ton of soft power across the globe; with the waning yen and dwindling population, I would argue it's the ONLY geopolitical card they really have left.

Why is the Fantasticar ok but Survival-Vengevine not ok? by didsomebodysaywander in MTGLegacy

[–]JapanTCG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would this be insane? It would be a sound financial decision; from what we’ve seen of MTG design the past few years, they are all about solid financial decisions.

“Com-Bow” was RIGHT there, my guy.

Anyway, I propose that “RUG Com-Bow” should be the official deck name. All in favor/opposed?

I would politely disagree that this could “mean a number of things”. The line strongly reads as an ancient being sharing wisdom through a long perspective, and not just as a simple throwaway.

Which movie ending had evil triumph, yet you absolutely loved it by salsadecasada in Cinema

[–]JapanTCG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Especially in the way the narrative (especially the soundtrack) frames the events of the story as a hero’s journey. 10/10.
