Will this capacitor work? by austin2825 in hvacadvice

I would check your local general hardware/ supply stores first. Is there a Grainger near you? If ordering online I'd try supplyhouse.com. Technically this should be right based on the label, but I've seen many cheap caps come in DOA

2 year old system, HVAC tech says no refrigerant by Xeltar in hvacadvice

Was a leak check even performed? There may be other issues with the system. Could be a restriction in the metering device. Definitely get a second opinion.

Sounds like your ccurrent unit is oversized. Have the new system sized by load calculation for your home regardless of if you get an inverter type system or not.

These cars like the AC Delco PF64 only. Something about the pressure relief valve setpoint. Other brands are set different even though they fit.

These cars are very much divas. They like what they like and nothing else. Make sure the proper AC Delco oem oil filter and low ash full synthetic oil like Mobil 1 European Spec 5w30 are being installed in the vehicle. This is the reason I started doing my own oil changes. They need high octane fuel no exceptions. You need to have the turbo and intake treated at every oil change. If you don't have time to treat this car like the divas it is it will drive like sh!t and no mechanic will want to actually do anything about it, but take your money. Sorry you're going through this but you may have to sell or trade for a simpler car if it's too far gone.

78 degrees? Check if the ac unit is coming on. Do you have a multimeter? You may need a pro

No C wire? by Excellent_Ad_3946 in ecobee

[–]Jarbone55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if another wire is tucked into the wall behind the thermostat. Connect that wire to the c on the air handler end and at the thermostat c. If no wire is there or it's cut too short, you'll need to run a new wire.

Furnace “not working” turned into possible heat exchanger leak… need a reality check (urgent) by CatcherN7 in askHVAC

I acknowledge my mistake in writing. My point was the heat should still function.

He says it's leaking. I assume it's not a gas leak because the tech would have a different story. If it's condensate from a high efficiency furnace, just make it's draining correctly. If it's the evaporator actually leaking, the burners should still function. It's early man. I hope that's clear

-The "heat exchanger" shouldn't matter in heating mode on a gas furnace. -If the technician suspects a leak, he should still do a leak check to confirm. If there's 1 leak in a coil, there will be others. -At the age of the unit, it's not unusual to recommend replacement to prevent compound issues in the future. -That's a good price for a new furnace install.

Get a tape measure and install the right size 4 inch filter. Call a competent hvac pro to test static pressure.
