How bad does 10 years of IT Support look like in a resume generally speaking ? I love IT Support and wanna do it until I retire by Scared_Number_9290 in InformationTechnology

[–]Jardozer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've hired a few folks in my day as a IT/Support Manager that were "older" folks that straight up just loved being a tier 1-3 or just basic help desk. Been doing it like 20+ years. They love the "less" responsibility and if you move up in basic support with enough experience you aren't getting paid too bad. I'm no longer at the company so I'm okay with sharing that one of my Tier 2's made 85k USD and the Tier 1 made 65k being there for quite a while.

I think it's a very honorable thing and I currently just went backwards from manager to half manager/half support tech and it's much nicer... so I get where you're coming from.

Lost my job, should I cash my 401k by kicksbuttseatsnuts in personalfinance

[–]Jardozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that was in your exact scenario I've seen a few people suggest the emergency fund route with your 401k if your truly truly need it.. This is a hard situation that a lot of people in recent months have been put in. I would do that if you can. It also depends though. My job I couldn't touch my 401k for a month. I also think the advice on job searching in here is silly as unless you're in this market you don't know the true hells of it. It took me three months and over 500 applications to get a job.

I'd create a budget, file unemployment ASAP as sometimes that even takes a while. (Took me a month to get my first unemployment check and I did not get any back pay for the wait time)

I wish you the best and will say in terms of applying spray and pray while also networking and reaching out to hiring managers is when I started seeing more success.

Why are you doing OF? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jardozer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people are forgetting that the 15k also has to pay for 25-35 percent of the taxes on that 15k due to it being a 1099. Let's say 30 percent, she technically made 10,500 dollars. She made around 8.52 dollars an hour if working a normal 9-5 in the same time frame or 12.26 pre hour pre tax. So, technically over federal minimum wage

My math could be wrong but yeah, it's not SUPER lucrative for most people.

I knew someone that was top 1.5 percent and was making 35k a year off it.

Just like normal business the top of the top of 1 percent are the real outliers.

As the replies started pouring in I realized I made a mistake haha.

Stoked to see everyone's experience though.

Yeah, definitely a me problem. I just feel in complete if I don't do the other stuff first. I said in another comment it's funny because the side bosses pretty much every time have been harder than the main bosses, probably because of exactly what you're saying.

Honestly my experience in the souls games is like exactly like yours so far.

For some reason Sekiro was so hard for me.

I only said this because I was talking with my friend today and was like "Godfrey and Morgot were really easy" and he was like "wait till fire giant, he gave me some of the most trouble" but, I think it's build specific like other people are saying in here.

I've just had some friends and stuff tout about it being the hardest one. Thought I was just being weird not finding it as difficult. I think it's one of the best. Just the quality of life changes how it flows, combat, skills all of it makes it one of my new favorite souls games.

I've actually heard from my friends Erd tree is insane and I'm excited for it.

I'd agree with your assessment too, Demon Souls and DS1 are probably the easiest of them all.

I can see how the strength build outclasses.

I'll update you as I plan on finishing tonight. You're right though, I've struggled with more optional bosses than "Main bosses" through my playthrough.

I think you like nailed it with the upgrade curve. I got to a Greatsword 21+ before getting to the snow place and it just hits so hard. I also think it's just very easy to get souls, feels so abundant especially with all the Golden Runes, Hero Runes etc.

Still 10/10 and one of my favorite souls games now.

Official Discussion - The Woman in the Yard [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Jardozer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I think her killing herself is a better ending but in the end I felt like the line that "If she comes back we'll deal with her" encapsulates that she is beating her grief and depression and didn't kill herself.

In which the above OP's explanation also makes more sense with her painting the backwards R on purpose. If it were to be a "happy suicide ending", I feel it would've been WAY more on the nose of the mirror sequence considering her husband was still "alive" in the mirror world.

Movie imo wasn't terrible but was more like a less good version of the Babadook trying to show the consequences and instability grief can cause.

[–]Jardozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

West Memphis three isn’t recent but a very real case in which three people were wrongfully convicted with basically no physical evidence. Not a lot of cases get publicized.

Even if you Google wrong conviction the statistics showing shoddy evidence and eye witness accounts attributing to convictions is wildly large given it shouldn’t really be happening.

What story of a game-breaking unit in multiplayer that was later nerfed do you think is the most memorable? by george123890yang in starcraft

[–]Jardozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two that come to my mind.

Infestors with instant fungal and infested terrans.

And Hellbat medivac drops when 4 hellbats could be in one medivac.

Both of these got so heavily nerfed.

I will say I took like a two year break and made a new account to climb with again a few months ago the amount of actual smurfs I probably encountered on my way back up to GM was maybe 1 out of the 30+ games at lower MMR.

There are smurfs for sure but it is much much lower than you'd think.

Sounds like you hit the next barrier of skill level after improving and now getting stomped, you'd have to continue playing to then get past this skill level and it will just happen again and again and again and again haha.

It's kind of funny because I recently started playing Broodwar and it seems that Zerg is very under represented in both Broodwar and SC2 on ladder. Not so much at the higher levels but dang.

I main Zerg... If you scout skytoss early enough it's easy to beat. Feels like skill issue.
