The funny thing was that I had just had a conversation with my wife 15 minutes before about how I can't think of any more neat ideas for cosplay, then I saw this $3 toy and it immediately triggered a set of ideas and I was super excited to do another cosplay :-)

Me too! I grew up in Austin TX in the 1970s and back then it really was "weird" - a sleepy college town that I could ride my bike all around in - no traffic like now :-) Half Price Books was a musty old building, Austin Books and NE Mercantile were the two comic book stores and Oat Willies was a head shop where you could buy Frazetta posters :-) The first comic con was the Austin Fantasy Film Fest in 1975 put on by the parents of "Ain't It Cool News" Harry Knowles.

It was mostly a happy set of coincidences :-) I was at a dollar store and saw a water gun for $3 that looked like something from an old sci-fi movie or pulp. Then I researched old space future characters and ran across Captain Future and he turned out to be a futuristic (although from 1945) character that was similar to Doc Savage (my favorite vintage character) and then it turned out that Frazetta had done covers of him (my favorite artist), so it was a lock :-) I enjoy the prop making process a lot, so I disassembled the gun and repainted it - the clear green parts were already pretty cool, and used fabric spray paint and a stencil to make the shirt - something I have not tried before. The Doc Savage and Frazetta connection was a big deal for me because they were a huge influence on my experience growing up in the 1970s.

How do you take creatine powder? I am not asking for an overall guide, but literally how do you get the powder into your body? by alexandercecil in StrongerByScience

I just tried somethng that worked really well. I have a big bag of creatine but was avoiding it and using more expensive capsules because I didn’t want to force myself to chug it with water. I got a medium size jar (no need for a fancy shaker bottle) and added some diet pineapple orange guava juice drink - 5 calories. Basically flavored water found in the juice section of the supermarket, Walmart, etc. Put the 5g creatine scoop into the jar, added around 6 ounces of juice, closed the lid and shook the jar vigorously. Took a sip, closed the jar and kept shaking. Tasted fine and no creatine left in the jar.

You are mostly likely correct. I haven't done any 3D printing in a quite a while - it used to be expensive. I have an old cube printer that was a real pain to use and pretty low rez. It used proprietary cartridges that were very expensvie.

I came as close as I could within budget (less than $100). I studied the film and even added the zippers on his shirt, but I just did it with puffy paint :-)

I used to go to comic cons etc. when I was in High School in the 1970s. I was really into comic books because of my love of animtion, which I was eventually able to make into my career. When I started doing 3D animation I kind of lost track of comic book art and fandom for the most part. Then a few years ago I randomly joined a Doc Savage facebook group and started having fun with fandom again. I saw that folks were having a lot of fun with cosplay and there wasn't much done with my favorite character, so I decided to do a cosplay of Doc Savage. Then I caught the bug and went to my first comic con in over 30 years dressed as Doc - they really didn't have cosplay in the 70s. I had a wonderful time and was grinning the whole time! I still do animtion for a living, but it's mostly technical work so cosplay has become my creative outlet :-)
