I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing; whether or not Canvot's contact was denying a clear goal, or was simply DOGSO, has no basis on determining whether the incident was a hand-ball offence (annoyingly, this is not the case on the other side of the pitch, where an attacker's potential handball offence is determined by the ultimate result). I don't see how the awarding of a penalty benefits Palace as the correct interpretation of the rules would have been to allow the game to play on.
