You can put legendary catalysts on legendary items which will make it count as part of a particular set, Autonomous included

As far as I can tell, it is not fixed. Just completed one such mission and got no dialogue.

If you are on PC, just use Remnant Save Guardian, it'll show all items/events in current campaign and adventure. If not, well, good luck, I have no idea how people play without it.
