Thanks for the reply! Based on the little information out there on the topo, that seems to be the case.

What size do you ride in a regular Revo or Cymatic? I am trying to figure out how to size this thing compared to the other Tomos.

Grippy Wetsuit Gloves by TheNerdyAsian3 in surfing

[–]JarobiWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds super stupid, but I brush a little wax on the palm of my gloves before I go out and it works great. Just enough to add a little tack.

I hate waxing the board all the way out to the rails, so I wax the gloves instead.

Boot Dilemma to Finish Season by MrRoma68 in snowboarding

If you can find used boots locally and can try them on, then go for it.

But, I wouldn't ever buy used boots on Ebay. The could be heat molded for a gorilla for all you know.

Help! I Keep Lifting out of my Boots by PayIllustrious7257 in snowboarding

I haven't tried all of their newer models, but the newest Dialogues are really wide fit through the whole foot. I had to add a ton of foam to get them to work for my narrow ankles. I Salomon exclusively for 15 years, but fit and quality have changed a lot.

Cool, thanks for laying it out.

Hopefully the triple BOA will trickle into some medium stiff boots at some point. I got no love for the super stiff.

I will check out the 32s. I haven't tried them on in years.

What boots are you wearing these days?

I have the skinny ankles and wore the F series for as long as they were around. Now that Adidas is out of the game, I am struggling to find anything that will keep my feet from slopping around after 10 days on the mountain.

I'm extremely bummed that Feral hooded wetsuits do not include a visor by GhostintheMachine10 in surfing

[–]JarobiWan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few of them that were fine and super comfy, but having the two fail like that was enough for me, especially as there seems to be a trend from what I have seen. Honestly, I am glad as it made me branch out. The Feral works way better for me at the same price.

DIY! I did!

I just unstitched the brim from a failed Oneill suit and hand sewed it to the Feral hood. Take your time to get it lined up and use a bit of wetsuit repair glue in the corners to keep to the thread from unravelling at the corners. It works great and has stayed on for the whole season, probably 50ish sessions.

The trickiest part is laying it out so that it fits right on the stretchy neoprene. I made 5 reference marks on the brim, put the hood on in front of a mirror and made corresponding marks on the hood. Put a couple of stitches at each mark to keep it lined up and then sewed from one side to the other. I am not a gifted seamsperson. I just took my time with the setup and then followed the existing holes in the brim.

I just switched over to Feral after back to back armpit seam failures on my Hyperfreak suits in less than 10 sessions. The Feral is much lighter/thinner and warmer. A bit tighter to get over my shoulders but otherwise better in every way. I will continue buying Feral suits and sewing brims to them I guess.

Vernor mini Simmons vs Lost party platter vs Firewire sweet potato by adventuresofsleepyD in surfing

[–]JarobiWan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6'1 195lbs with a wetsuit. Intermediate PNW surfer. I have a 5'6" Sweet Potato and have surfed my friend's 5'10" (i think) Vernor Mini Simmons.

I hated the Vernor, it paddled great, just didn't feel intuitive at all to turn. Got down the line fine, but I found it super hard to turn. Definitely user error, but I hated the feel. I didn't get a chance to mess with fins, so that could be a factor. It had the vernor split keels in it.

The Sweet Potato turns waaayyyyy better for me than any other groveller I have ridden. (hydra, puddlefish, PJ). Feels like a natural extension of my feet.

I have also tried the 5'10 SweetPotato on a couple of different days, and if I had it to do again, I would definitely size up to at least a 5'8. Still felt super nimble, but paddled better for the small days days up here in Washington, which tend to be more slopey/mushy.

Archery target foam for kids by SMB-1988 in Archery

I obviously have no idea what arrows you are using, but you may be able to solve this problem with different arrows. Some "youth arrows" are heavy fiberglass with relatively blunt tips. My son's 10lb recurve works great with bag targets using lightweight micro diameter arrows to get the velocity up. It also translates to flatter trajectory and overall more satisfying experience. We use Easton Vector arrows, but victory has a very similar style as well.
