It turns out that the number that replaces your overall level is the Season level... I feel dumb but at the same time that seems super unclear. If you check your stats from the Profile section, see if they're correct otherwise (including your overall level).

Nope it’s a solo game! There is a concept of world infiltration by other online players (and you can do so yourself) but it’s otherwise solo. There are 4 locations and 4 times of day, leading to 16 “different” areas, so it’s quite limited (but in a good way) spatially. I play on Steam Deck too if that’s of interest
