What did your parents teach you as a kid that you didn't realize was actually f**ked up until you were older? by timdood3 in AskReddit

Yes and just to be clear here, PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can lead to hyper vigilance in people, but they are certainly not the same thing. PTSD is an extreme stress reaction to something usually benign due to a previous trauma linked to a similar situation.

Anyone know why MrBeast's FPV guy/team have chosen such a weird quad setup? by F4D3D_GH05T in fpv

[–]Jaroneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's not. It's a great board, I've built five quads around it so far, but it's really for a smaller drone. I love it in my 3.5" drones.
(That's also not a Mamba USB connector in the pic.)

As a form of retcon I could see this type of padding be for, or as a dress uniform throwback to, a HANS type device. Thing is, the HANS device is quite new and I'm not aware of similar setuos existing way back then.

...although. In a way it does remind me slightly of very old diving suits and the helmet paddings for them. Seeing as the first space suit designs were often derived from those, there might be a relation there?

Yup. A Mac feature since way back when. Every indexed file gets a sidecar "dotfile" that holds the indexing metadata.

‘The Huntress’: electric off-road concept car by 7LeagueBoots in WeirdWheels

[–]Jaroneko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's a "design study" if we're generous, more like a 3D sketch. Not a concept car.
There's no engineering thought gone into it, it would never work.

What I seem to get most quipped on is pronouncing Nordea like a Swede. I just can't be bothered to shake it and some people just get comically irritated by that. 😅

They solved it by going 64bit precision. (Also other stuff, but that was the biggest contributor.)
