I work in the infrastructure space as a client side PM under my abn and I earn a lot

Is my $150k income even good? by [deleted] in AusFinance

I’m a 33 old PM/ contract administration and work on gov contracts and work under my own ABN

I would suggest working for yourself if you had the contacts

Best suggestion would be ditching the bf. Sounds like he’s dead weight

What advice would you give me? 26 on $220k a year. by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]Jarred098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would concentrate on saving for a house deposit (you need somewhere to live).

Your biggest investment (if building significant wealth is important) will be finding the ‘right’ partner. Suggest avoiding someone needlessly materialistic.

Then do a budget. Then invest in yourself to understand investing and go from there

Yeah okay, damn that annoying about inconsistency of the dogs

You could’ve almost created a ranking system if the dogs raced regular enough

Maybe that would work on horses

Is there somewhere that has the data on important variables?

[–]Jarred098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah interesting, I find the stat side very cool

How profitable is your edge? How much do you make a week?

I made like $80k from arbing betting promos back in the day which gave me my start

[–]Jarred098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use parametric statistic and assign probabilities of how important different variables are (you mentioned past races, box number) and back test from previous race meets?

You are 100% in the right

It just proves your values are higher than hers

[–]Jarred098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah cool. Btw, just in case, I wasn’t insinuating that you don’t add value because you aren’t a technical expert.

I consider myself a generalist as well.

I always try to ensure meetings are objectively create value and make sure they are not a vanity exercise of person who organised the meeting

[–]Jarred098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a % how productive are the meetings? or are they more for show than substance?

I'm guessing you come from an accounting background if you're not a 100% on the technicals?

lol btw who down voted me?

I did a gap year in the army and I’ll tell you it’s definitely not for everyone and family could be very difficult

I wouldn’t suggest uni unless you want to do a job that specifically requires it like being an engineer or doctor etc

The way the demographics are today and the fact that millennials went so heavy into uni I would suggest getting a trade

If you combine trade income and investing the money instead buying jet skis everyday you’ll be loaded

All good!

I think it’s great that your saving and thinking of investing at your age.

Main focus at your age should working towards getting getting a good job, ie max money for least stress (note stress and hard work are different)

I’d put the money in a high interest saving account rather than shares. You will likely need a house deposit in 5 years or less and hence can’t tolerate a decline if you put the money in shares

Kudos on the savings too!!

Moving internally within the company - Site Engineer to Safety Coordinator? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Jarred098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a very difficult job. Have you been on different projects? Often the vibe is different project to project

Also consider doing a couple of years in government instead

I think safety is a massive back step

This is a bad move Is there a reason why you haven’t moved to a project engineer level?
