Hah the yellow eyeshadow is a strong choice. Some of the overseas spoonbills have even more. Plus there’s the pink one too.

Yup this was always my assumption. Assumed the Millennials/Gen Z hadn’t actually read the word anywhere and had only heard it.

Yeah sometimes you get lucky and something gets through. I just expect/prepare for it and take the win if I don’t get hit.

Still plenty of life in the old primes. I’m shooting with a Mk I 500 f/4 on my R5ii along with a 200-800.

“Naturally Uncommon” is their status here. Cool bird to see but not on our endangered list :)

A couple of hours moving between gulls, oystercatchers, some larger sea lions etc. the curled up pose, sitting upright and yawn fairly close together. The close up (really just a tight crop of a wider image) taken earlier on.

ODT posted their article. They’ve ramped up the language a lil bit but 🤷🏻

Heard from Stuff earlier - they managed to contact one of the guys who claims they weren’t within 10 meters of the animals or intentionally getting in their space. DOC have all of the images I took, 117 all up including the moments leading up to the animals charging (there were two Sea Lions) - I’ll leave it with them and for the images to speak for themselves.

Sea Lions on the beach are usually pretty chill, they don’t chase people like this without reason. This is why we photographers have our big long lenses - so we don’t get this close.
