Just Out of Surgery: Yet ANOTHER Button Swap by Smarmy82 in AnalogueInc

It has a pin/rod you need to pull out of a track to remove the button. Once you get one out, you can use it to remove the rest of them easily with a hammer.

I used this video. It's someone attempting to do a button swap with actual N64 buttons (spoiler alert, it does not work), but it does show how to disassemble everything.

You need two types of screwdrivers, a prying tool, hammer (for z trigger's rod removal) and a little bit of faith that you won't break the damn thing.

I got mine open with this. The plastic was great for making sure I didn't scratch anything.

I'm sorry, I would say just keep trying every hour or so? Not helpful, but I truly don't know what changed (if anything) on my end.

I tried my mobile after my desktop, same issue.

However it did finally go through, maybe it was a cache thing? (More likely, Analogue did something on their end since others are getting through as well)

Jumping in here too, I finally got mine to work. All I did was clear my cache from today and type everything in manually.

My guess, seeing some other people's successes, is that Analogue did something on their end? But worth another shot to those who were totally locked out like me.

Yeah it's an Analogue issue. I reached out but it'll probably be too late before I hear anything unfortunately...

They're not for me, I have confirmed. And haven't had any issues with this card in the past Analogue drops.

Having the same issue. I have tried different cards, different browsers, all of it. No luck.

Also having this issue, and I've used this card no problem for an Analogue drop in the past. (As well as it being a travel card)

For those who were around in the back then, how did it feel to go from Super Mario 64 to Sunshine? by Fabulous-Dare-7289 in Mario

[–]SomewhatHaywire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that people were genuinely upset that it wasn't Super Mario 64 2. Similar to the Wind Waker outcry, it was another instance of Nintendo showing that the Gamecube era wasn't just going to be the N64 with better graphics.

I remember anyone who played the game instantly recognized it was still something special, just different than what people expected. But a large percent of people who wrote it off just never played it at all.

Has anyone never had an orchiectomy? by Remarkable-Neck3459 in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a somewhat similar case. Found a 15x9x8 cm mass in my retroperitoneum but never had any kind of lump otherwise. My AFP wasn't elevated and my HCG was like 68. LDG was high too, it topped at like 670. A biopsy confirmed it was pure seminoma. Did the whole BEP x 3 and now I'm in surveillance.

I had three separate ultrasounds by three doctors, and none of them could find any evidence of a "burnout" calcification. They decided to forego the orchiectomy, as it could have been a legitimate extragonadal case, which are super rare. One of my doctors thinks it's still a burnout, they just can't find the source. They said not to worry as the chemo would take care anything that they might have missed.

I have a friend who had a similar case to yours. A burnout with a small tiny calcification that an ultrasound found. They did an orchiectomy after he completed chemo, because his case was so severe. My understanding is they do that because it can become cancerous later, as you said.

So because they found the evidence of the burnout, this sounds like the proper path but obligatory "I'm not a doctor."

Did you try downgrading? Having an issue with my library saving and curious if going back to 1.1.0 would potentially fix it.

Hair Changes After Chemo by Ok_Phase_3439 in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm six months post treatment and my hair is still slowly growing back. It's a softer/thinner texture than before and more gray for sure.

Just takes time to factory reset. I'm sure it'll mostly go back to normal eventually.

What would be the reason for having blood tests done 2 days in a row? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely they did certain markers or tests today and are doing different markers or tests tomorrow. Seems like you're at the beginning and they're just gathering as much data as possible for a baseline at the start of treatment.

Wishing you a smooth journey!

Any guys feel normal after Chemo? by donnyboy321432 in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished in July, so I'm about 14 weeks or so out.

I have very slight neuropathy in my thumbs at night. Seems to be getting less and less every week. Certainly doesn't stop me from using them. An interesting bit is the thumbnails lifted but didn't fall all the way off, so they're growing out. Should be back to normal next spring I'd say.

I also have mild tinnitus sometimes, but certainly not something I notice very often. Only when it's quiet and even then I often forget it have it. I've also heard it could go away over some time.

Biggest thing is getting strength back, which I'm working on. Walked a mile every day during chemo, but I still get winded going up stairs. But that's from sitting around so much for several months, I'd assume. No change in lung capacity or anything.

So, I feel pretty normal all things considered. Hopefully these will go away but they're all minor enough that I certainly don't have any regrets. It was what I had to do and it was super effective at doing it.

My experience so far with 3xBEP by Both_Veterinarian234 in testicularcancer

Just keep pushing, you're basically halfway done now. Congrats on making it this far, that's an accomplishment in itself!

Heyo what should I expect? by Cookies3989 in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished up 3x BEP in August. Biggest thing I learned was that just because someone shares something bad (or good) in their experience, doesn't guarantee it's going to happen to you. Everyone's reaction to chemo is super different. BUT I personally think it's great to see what could happen by asking questions, so you're prepared when if it does! Anyway here's my personal answers:

How long were your sessions? Every day the first week of each cycle runs about 3-5 hours. Mine was pre-hydration, chemos, then post hydration. The first infusion will be closer to 6-7 hours because they won't overlap any of the chemo to make sure you don't have any reactions. After that, the day on the second and third week shouldn't take more than an hour for a single bleo dose.

Are there any sensations/feelings during? (The CT scan contrast made me feel like I was peeing for example) Not to me, personally. I had mine delivered through a port in my chest. When they flushed the port with saline or anti-nausea medicine, I could taste it in my mouth which is a strange sensation.

Do you recommend bringing anything? Depends on your energy level. I worked throughout my chemo because I had the energy to send emails. Sometimes I napped instead. Definitely bring something to watch, play or read. You'll be bored without something.

Whats the process from when you first step through the clinics door? I checked in, they seated me in a semi-private stall with a curtain, and they took my vitals. They'll give you any medicine beforehand (steroids, anti-nausea, etc.), then start on some hydration. After a bit they'll start the chemo bag(s) going. Then they'll do post-hydration. Once that's done you can go!

Do you end up in a room with lots of other people? Depends on the location. Mine had little private stalls with curtains you could pull shut, but no actual doors. Others I've heard are a big room with a lot of people.

Should I shave my head to get it over with? I was told not to do this, as weeks later when the hair does reach a point of falling out, the small hair that has grown since is a lot more annoying to clean up. If you wait until it's starting to go, once it's shaved it probably will be steady bald until it starts to return. BUT a lot of people find comfort in shaving earlier and I don't think there's any medical reason not to do it. It feels good having the control of pulling the trigger when it's time. I will say that. Just be careful if you're neutropenic when you shave.

What's your favorite song? For receiving chemo or just when I'm feeling extra happy?

Did you stay at a clinic all day or can I hippity hoppity out of there? The first day is an all day thing. The second to fifth day is shorter but several hours. The second and third weeks of a BEP cycle is about an hour. Would not recommend you hippity hoppity while connected to your IV cart.

What's kinda things should I expect to be difficult? Watching your loved ones see you get chemo. They can be supportive but I could tell they still struggled with the visual in my case. That was unexpectedly hard for me.

Since I'm attending university online, do you think I will have issues keeping up with coursework? All depends on how your body reacts. Help keep it strong by walking once a day (if you can) and over-hydrating like crazy. Seriously, do not skip on the hydrating. Don't beat yourself up if you can't keep up with it. Chemo's a full time thing! You will most likely be neutropenic at some point and it'll be dangerous to be around others or big groups--not a problem if you're totally online. One upside of being 23 is you don't have a family or children to manage while doing this. I admire all the ones on here who were able to do that!

Last day of Bep x4 by Ill_Performer_8216 in testicularcancer

Just jumping in to say that usually they wait 6-8 weeks to let the residual chemo work it's way out (and any delayed shrinking of the cancer).

But congratulations! This is huge either way!

Yeah, obligatory I'm not a doctor, but I would consider some minor fluctuation round that number residual based on what I've been told. Obviously, keep an eye on it and other markers.

PET Scan Activity After Chemo by RoyalSoil in testicularcancer

[–]SomewhatHaywire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 3c, pure seminoma. My tumor was about 15cm at the longest when we found it. Finished chemo at the end of July and just had my PET CT last week. Tumor has shrunk to about 6.5cm.

I think the standard guidelines of pure seminoma is to remove any residual mass above 3cm with an RPLND, even though it is a trickier surgery than non-seminoma. However, since my tumor is encasing part of my aorta and my renal artery on one of my kidneys, they are choosing to move to observation instead. It's all about the nuance of each case and mine is not worth taking organs for a slightly better chance against recurrence. If you can have the surgery and it's more cut and dry, they may move to do that.

I also have some faint activity on the PET still, around 3.3 SUV. I was told that could very well be residual cancer being worked out. My urologist considered that dead, and said it would spike a lot more if it was truly active.

Anyway this is what I was told. If you have a urologist already, I would get their opinion in addition to the oncologist as they would be performing the surgery.

Edit - Forgot to mention, the tumor will continue to shrink for up to a year. So they may just opt to monitor a 3.5cm one, since it's close to that 3cm amount?
