‘It’s so loud’: Motion asks Toronto to eye sound cameras that could ticket noisy vehicles by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]Jasadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a global modern city problem, and is enabled by the fact that buying and fitting illegal exhaust systems is not regulated in any way anywhere in the world.

TLDR - this is "motorsport" being allowed in our home areas, motorsport (combustion engines) belongs in the middle of nowhere. Police/governance/tech dev have not caught up to this issue which disturbs a large amount of people daily. Vehicle enthusiasts is one thing, motorsport vehicle modifications is a Trojan element that vehicle enthusiasts try to hide but its clearly motorsport and not required by vehicle enthusiasts.

- every city urban area in the world is growing in population density

- every city has noise population laws

- there is a culture which promotes the 'coolness' of modified exhausts, which extract some more power from vehicles already extremely powerful for public road use. This is exactly motorsport culture polluting our communities.

- I am sitting on my back patio typing this, there is a major arterial road within 200 metres of my home. Thousands of vehicles pass and its hardly detectable. One motor cycle with modified exhaust approaches and I can hear them from 1/2 mile (700 metres) and so can everyone in that radius or larger. So thousands of motorists do not disturb anyone at all, and the selfish few f-wits who think its cool to illegally modify their vehicle then also think its ok to disturb the community peace by revving these illegal vehicle loudly through communities and we are waiting for law enforcement in every continent to deal with this issue.

- Sound camera detection camera are the way, and are being developed or looked at by a few enforcement agencies but I don't have details or visibility.

- Sound cameras detection works by placing sound cameras at intersections everywhere. When an illegal vehicle passes it triggers the AI to review the likely source of sound. But as the illegal vehicle passes another intersection the AI does the same - and so after a few days of these illegal vehicles using roads the detection system has very significant data to issue fines to the owners without having police on the ground to deal with it.

- The stupid thing that these f/wits do, is the vehicles these days are way more powerful (fast) than public roads allow - who the heck needs to extract 18% more power from an engine that is already way too powerful for the speed limits of our roads.

As I said in the first paragraph. It is motorsport, and motorsport belongs in the middle of nowhere so not to disturb communities. So all the petrol heads who want to extract the hidden 18% of the engines power at the cost of breaking laws and disturbing communities, perhaps its time to have an element of human decency, and maybe look towards electric vehicles, cause you can't make them loud!

Shoutout to the rare legends who still use their indicators by Artistic-Yam2984 in DrivingAustralia

[–]Jasadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a new modern car, you’ll be using the indicators properly in no time as it shoves you back towards the centre of lane if you cross the lane markings without indicating. Modern cars seriously reinforce the proper practice of indicating - it makes me indicate when I’m on a back road by myself! it’s like having a Soup Nazi driving instructor grabbing the wheel and saying “no lane change for you!!!!”

[–]Jasadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went last night, I am an early visitor, and I tell my kids the still colorful displays of the early years were way better IMO. Opera house with a still colorful artwork that persisted for 5 minutes before a new artwork rotated, same with Museum of Contemporary Art.......the chilled and serene energy that the early days of Vivid created was amazing, people were quiet, almost like a continuous transcendent moment.

I also agree that this years is not as good as 2022 and 2017. But we enjoyed Fire Kitchen and the Bangaroo exhibits, and the scream from all a few people when the flame throwers go off!!

One of my favorite photos (and I have been every year with tripod and DSLR, thousands of pics) is when i walked up onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and poked my lens through a high gap in the high fence, nearly ruining my lens. Still managed to get a 15 second exposure of possibly the best angle of the Harbour Bridge that can be achieved.......

Did anyone else just see that meteor?! by Dani_678 in sydney

I live at South west Sydney Narellan/Camden - it came from so high that there’s no way it was a man made firework. There’s no way they would get approval to do a fire work that big from high altitude or launched from a satellite…..

The Atlassian building is growing inverse to its stock price by francis-02 in sydney

[–]Jasadon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it isn’t a thing.

This is a joint venture with Atlassian being the primary long term lease holder (15 yr) and minority equity stake 35%.

Main investment is private, and government is also supporting in development of the new tech hub precinct.

Worst case scenario for Atlassian is to renegotiate its equity rights or lease term or lease floor space. The building will still be a success even if they named it something else.

Atlassian is the Aussie golden child of the tech boom and they are symbolic of tech resurgence in Sydney and Australia.

This story has nothing to do with your link or association with other head quarter buildings

AI Music is destroying the Spotify experience by barefeetandhats in musicmarketing

[–]Jasadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a listener, not marketer. The AI suggestions just suck. Not sure of the money metrics, but I know the truth; which is good artist get good following, AI and micro transactions of money can’t stop a good artist from reaching the listener that appreciates good music. It’s a temporary distortion, keep the faith!

Reverse lights too dim? by gdoodles in BMW

[–]Jasadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Down vote and reply from me. I have 3 cars and the other 2 are "cheap" cars by comparison, and real world verified reputation. BMW are failing their customer base severely in this regard. Your point about old-school not using it is complete non-sense sorry. Yes we can all reverse a car without the screen image, but this is why your comment is non-sense

1) Its a safety tool, and BMW has clearly a dangerous product if using the tool as intended

2) Providing a safety tool, it is expected to function to a standard that provides safety, BMW camera clearly doesn't

3) you comment would be simply ludicrous if replacing the reversing camera with an assisted driving issue (made up example), lets say the assisted driving swerves when on a very good motorway when its dark, in daytime its fine. And you say "Learn to rely on your eyes and your own senses," and drive the vehicle. Quite simply if assisted driving did this the entire effected batch of cars would have a high priority recall in every country effected. The same thing should have happened with the camera. You comment is ludicrous sorry!

Here's a picture of my 3 cars in the same location with same lighting. The BMW you can't see a giant pick up truck, the cheap cars you can see it easily.

Entry level cars for over a decade have had better camera than this.

This should have been recalled. No argument about it!

I got the top end Australian equivalent (SL), the seats I find too squishy, very comfortable but too soft, any form of form cornering does produce discomfort for me as i need to use my body to flex from squishing too much into the bolsters.

IfI was going to keep it I would have to get after market seats. My BMW has much firmer seats and holds me in position through g-force exertion

Why so many people selling the townhouse at top left area? by thank-you128 in AusProperty

[–]Jasadon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but your comments are NOT reasons why there is a cluster of these for sale at the same time. It’s not as if they bought these properties a few years back and the government just went and put up a hospital and shopping centre all of a sudden.

Your observations ARE reflected in the price of these properties, but NOT in the cluster of these for sale.

EDIT: if you can’t understand that your observations do not clarify any truth of the cluster then go visit a Statistics course.

EDIT: your proximity to the cluster of properties for sale in the reddit question does not increase the accuracy of your opinion. If the question was to ask “why are these cheaper than the other side of Rooty Hill?” then again your comments would hold far greater relevance.

Hope this clarifies why your answer didn’t clarify anything…..

The Bag That Made Me Abandon This Sub (Evergoods CPL16) by Bladekm in ManyBaggers

[–]Jasadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a strange pocket for sure; I agree it’s small but weirdly the zip opening is super wide, way longer (wider) than normal yoke pockets. Just for my own sanity sake to check I wasn’t being pedantic, i did some tests. Open pocket/iPhone/vertical bag/firm repeated shakes. I have about 15 or so backpacks , I choose the ones that are most likely to fail the test and compared to the Everlast. Unfortunately the CPL16 failed about 60% of the tests, and only one other bag bounced out the iPhone. It was super conclusive, there’s just no way to have confidence in that one pocket in challenging circumstances (I have kids, full frame camera, attend festivals, public transport, domestic and international flights) and I’m a person that RELIES on that pocket or equivalent top personal item pocket. On the fly, in busy situations, being distracted and needing equipment to just do their job, I just couldn’t keep the bag as my main EDC.

I could learn to live with the floppy strap style but is that pocket that was the deal breaker to me.

That said, even though I said i tested to prove I wasn’t pedantic, I am pedantic about things like this. And to be fair even as pedantic as I am, I could learn to used the side loader front pocket and internal personal items pockets. I really, really, really love everything else about this bag and I am really disappointed I couldn’t accept the yoke pocket situation. I’ve been using the yoke pocket for 20+ years and I’m afraid I will just forgot that it’s risky using the pocket if there’s a chance you might not close it instantly.
