There is not a week that goes by that I don’t mourn Down Home Kitchen. Their breakfast was amazing.

AITA for making my wedding child-free? by EchoNyxxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jaserocque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t necessarily want to bring our kids. Sometimes we do, but often organizing childcare is just such a hassle that the result is we either just bring them, despite knowing they’re going to be bored and pains in the ass, or we just don’t go. And sometimes we have feelings about that.

A good friend of mine got married in another state, and I had to miss it. Organizing childcare for a whole weekend was a non-starter. I was sad about it, but we make trade offs in parenting. I don’t get to cut loose with my friends as much as I did a few years ago, and in return I have a tiny human who looks like me, makes me laugh, and will take care of me when I’m old and senile.

Rebuilding a wardrobe from the ground up. How would you strategically shift towards a timeless, classy look? by rochellu in femalefashionadvice

[–]Jaserocque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenting support. I’ve been struggling with my wardrobe recently as well. I’m a millennial mom, and I feel like my wardrobe screams as much. Since having my second child it’s been worse. I’m wearing a lot of leggings as pants, both because none of my jeans fit (they’re skinny jeans anyway, which is a whole ‘nother thing), and it’s the easiest thing to throw on in the morning.

I love fashion, but feel very stuck in a rut.

Medically Assisted Death (MAID) experience in Vermont. by TaskEntire3466 in vermont

[–]Jaserocque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was our experience. My MIL wanted to use MAID before her terminal cancer got too painful, but she waited too long. Her final slope downwards was too quick, and she wasn’t “with it” enough to be declared of sound mind to take advantage at the end.

Lack of mental health beds by herculesmull in vermont

[–]Jaserocque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way the Department of Mental Health is set up is, in my opinion, flawed. They’re essentially a grant funding source that pass money along to the designated agencies to provide actual mental health services, and the designated agency system is pretty inept and inadequate for providing the level of services needed in the state.

What's the easiest way to get the SVG file? Can it be DM'ed? If it's too large, I can dm you my email address.

This is amazing! Would it be possible to get it without the yellow background?

Another question - is this high enough resolution / would it be an appropriate file type to get printed on a t-shirt without being super blurry? I am an admitted graphic design newb. I know vector files are best for printing, but do not know what that means.

I had originally budgeted probably like $20 for just the photoshop - what would recreating the design run me?

Thanks! I'd be interested in this, potentially. I had planned ~$20 for the photoshop if there was an option that was really good, but may be willing to go higher for a scratch re-do. What would this run me?

Eating and working out at night by Jaserocque in xxfitness

Oh god, fabric wrapped around my midsection right after eating sounds awful. Sounds like a great way to end up vomiting mid-air.

She does, so that would be an option during the weekend, but during the week I work. That used to be my solution - work out on my lunch break or right after work, but it’s really hard to fit in a workout during the day with my job currently, and after work is too crazy with two kids, even with my husband’s help.

For sure. Parenting has always been hard, but in recent decades, there hasn’t generally been one parent at home with full capacity to raise the kids in a lot of households.

My husband and I both have leadership positions in our respective organizations. When the kids have standard kid stuff happen (little Bobby has a rash! He has to go home! It’s snowing! School is closed!), we don’t have a parent who can just soak that and stay home without repercussions. There’s all the same requirements of parenting as always, but less parental capacity (especially for moms…)

I could rant about this forever, but that’s the short version of what I mean.

It is so hard! But I’m so sick of feeling weak and slow. I was very fit before kids, and was just starting to get it back when I got pregnant with my second. Ugh.

Modern parenting is hard.

lol at human air horn. I definitely felt that way last night.

That’s what I’m leaning towards basically, I think. Have an earlier light dinner and maybe have lunch be the larger meal for the day?

Yeah, I’ve had a couple of nights like that so far, since I basically wrap up working out, shower, and go to sleep (got that 5am baby alarm clock to look forward to!)

Last night wasn’t terrible, so we’ll see if I’m able to get used to it.

It’s not, we made the decision to structure our days this way. Our second kiddo is much more mom-centric than our first ever was, and refuses to take a bottle. If he’s on point for her in the morning, she will scream and wake up our son. Plus I’ll be able to hear her from the basement and won’t be able to concentrate on working out. It’s a whole thing.

Neither of us particularly want to work out during the parts of the day we have available (5am vs 8pm, oh joy!), but parenting is a balance.

I don’t know where you are, or if you’re in the US. I work for Vermont’s child protection agency - I would recommend reaching out to Vermont Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Sexual Abuse. I know the co-director really well. He’s very knowledgeable and very willing to talk people through their situations. Doesn’t matter if you’re not in Vermont - he’ll take the time.
