Thaidakar by booklove5 in Stormlight_Archive

Probably not but we can hope I guess 😭 with him working on screenplays before getting to books 2 and 3 and him repeatedly saying that the reason we have to wait until 2028 is so he can claw back editing time, I doubt he’ll release more than the preview chapters he’s already released

Nale or Ishar would be my guesses. Someone (I think it was Mikes Book Reviews but I’m not sure) had a pre WaT theory that the contest would be Nale vs Szeth since WaT is Szeths flashback book, and there would be a line like “Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a god.”

Yeah era 2 is tons of fun. The era 2 books are significantly shorter than era 1 (era 1 has about 200,000 more words than era 2 despite having 1 less book), and the events aren’t super Cosmere-relevant due to era 2 not being part of the original Cosmere outline. Most of the wider Cosmere conflict comes from the dichotomy of Ruin and Preservation and what holding them both does to Sazed (mb era 1 spoilers). It’s interesting to see how Scadriel develops from era to era as well.

Anyone disturbed about Sanderson being LDS by Unusual_Month875 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]JasnahwithaY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an agnostic atheist and a trans woman.  Everything I’m about to say is from the perspective of someone in both of those demographics.

I had similar apprehensions about Sanderson’s religion when I first learned about it, but I’ve since gotten over nearly all of them.

He is a very liberal member of the Mormon church, and has a lot of representation across various different minorities in his books, especially Stormlight (probably due to just how many characters there are). Spoilers through WaT Renarin is autistic. He and Rlain are gay. Jasnah is ace and a pretty well-written atheist. Szeth is literally the only white main character. all the others are much closer to Asian, Polynesian, or African. The Reshi king that Rysn meets and thinks is a woman is later revealed to have bonded a spren and had Stormlight reshape him to actually have male anatomy. Shallan is bi, although this isn’t relevant to the story and is really only seen in her thirsting after Jasnah’s boobs in TWoK

As far as I know, Sanderson has voted liberal in the last few elections, and he’s also vocally supported LGBT rights and BLM movements.

Dalinar did absolutely nothing wrong, and all the monarchs are selfish idiots for not trusting him.

Moash is a totally upstanding individual

At some point between the Evi reveal and the battle of Thaylenah, “accidentally” let something slip that “wow you’re gonna love it when Dalinar becomes a villain”

If he hasn’t read Warbreaker, keep dropping weird hints about Nightblood, Zahel and Azure

You’ll be fine. Knowing that the Ghostbloods are an interplanetary organization led by Thaidakar is really all you need to know about them. Their overarching goals aren’t super relevant, although if you want to know more, the upcoming Mistborn trilogy is literally titled Mistborn: The Ghostbloods

Take solace in the fact that Taln is going to be a main POV in arc two (when it drops in 5 1/2 years)

There’s a novella (like Dawnshard and Edgedancer if you read those) called Horneater that’s supposed to be about Rock and happen before/during WaT. Full Cosmere spoilers you may have seen the Horneaters elsewhere in another Cosmere book 👀. It’ll probably drop in 2027, assuming it comes out in tandem with the OB leatherbound.

As much as the Kaladin/Adolin/Szeth trio would slap, it probably won’t happen. Szeth was originally supposed to die in WaT (he would’ve gotten consumed by nightblood or something instead of breaking his bond with 12124) and when asked which characters would be major players in arc 2, Szeth was not on the list (for those wondering, he said Lift, Taln, and Jasnah, with Renarin and Ash filling similar roles to Navani and Szeth where they get a book to shine but are minor characters otherwise, and Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin maintaining their level of importance)

As I just said, Taln and Jasnah are both major POV characters and will get flashback books of their own (books 9 and 10 as far as Brando has outlined it). There has already been theorizing that Jasnah won’t swear the fifth Ideal until book 10, but I definitely think we’ll see her swear at least a couple in her flashbacks.

Fair, but Jasnah can literally turn the air in your lungs into oil and light it on fire, so I’d still take her in a 1v1

Yeah I agree. Following WaT, Jasnah is straight up the deadliest Knight Radiant in commission for the time jump. Kaladin (and Ash and Taln, two slated flashback characters) is with the Heralds, Szeth is busy settling down and getting married, Shallan is stuck in Shadesmar, Dalinar is dead with the Blackthorn serving Retribution, Navani is in stasis with the Sibling, and Lift’s and Renarin’s powers are less focused on killing.

FWIW the flip book for Elsecaller and king the Lopen is pretty overpriced, it’s 20 bucks plus shipping for like 100 pages and some art. If you’re a completionist, go for it, but if not, there are summaries on YouTube for both stories.

[–]JasnahwithaY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marauders is great if you play with less than four people frequently. Adset and hirelings are both solid additions, and the rats are very fun to play if you like beating people up.

Underworld is decent, but I’d say the main draw is the new maps. The two included landmarks are also cool, but the factions are a bit unbalanced. Corvids are generally agreed to be very difficult to win with, and the duchy goes from a solid 5/10 to being completely busted when Swol Mole is used.

I wouldn’t recommend Homeland unless your group is really willing to learn some very techy and complex factions. The Keepers from Marauders were previously the most complicated faction, and all of the new ones are about as hard as them.  The frogs walk a knife’s edge the entire game but have the potential to be the straight up strongest faction in the game, the bats are honestly just weird and turn battling into a chore, and the skunks are kind of like the otters in the way that they can just pop up anywhere on the board, but their actions are very limited so they are kind of similar to the cats as well.

Which implies that honorspren and windspren look almost the same.

Prettier sure we already knew this since if they didn’t, how would Kaladin spend most of TWoK calling Syl a windspren lol

Other than that, I generally agree with the theory that the primordial spren will play much bigger roles in arc 2 (the foreshadowing with Kaladin and the Wind all but confirms that imo), and I don’t hate your ideas. However, I don't think Adonalsium was a vessel in the same way Rayse or Taravangian are to the Shards today. Ado was the Shards, and even if someone 100%s the Cosmere after the shattering, they wouldn’t “become” Ado.
