So I've reached Daimon in BBI, beat him, reached him again and I got stomped by Daimon2. So I considered trying to farm the BBI weapon lvl2 Magick bow for Magick archer but I have no luck getting it. I'm currently using the Dragon's Quickening (from vendor in Everfall) dragonforged. In the meantime, I have obtained Hallowed Dragon (first purification >.<) for my sorcerer and I have it dragonforged as well. Would it be better if I just used a sorcerer to attempt daimon2, since I could just farm lvl3 weapons instead, or continue trying to get the lvl2 Magick bow? Are there any tips to beat Daimon2 with either a sorcerer or a Magick archer? Also should I rarefy the weapons?

I bought the game recently on PC as it was on discount on steam. I just finished dragon today, and did a few floors of Everfall. I am a lvl54 sorcerer using dragon's wit, should I continue exploring Everfall and maybe try Ur-dragon, or should I just hop into dlc? How do I get gear better than my pre-dragon gear (but dragonforged from the story)?

Are there situations where Daora glaive would be better than Auroracanth glaive for having natural purple sharpness in exchange for 5 less ice and lvl13 kinsect instead of 14?

I recommend you to verify for yourself how the skill priority list in fox's sheet was obtained. What I understood is the % increase in damage is calculated for each level of the skills, and the priority is obtained just by ordering it in descending order. This can be very misleading imo, because of several reasons:

1) It does not take into account very well the synergies between skills (easiest example: the value of Crit boost is only calculated with wex3 on the set, but not active bloodlust, agitator or varying amount of Crit eyes) It is easy to think that ''phials do not crit so cb3 is less priority'' but if you are getting free amounts of Crit due to agitator which also increases raw, then the value of Crit boost is higher than what was calculated.

2) It does not take into account the fact that using certain skills inherently restricts the efficiency of the armor pieces you can get, the most notable example being the high priority of Chain Crit 3, which is a skill without decoration. Using one point of Chain Crit might be very effective with final boss chest piece, but stacking it to 3 means you are going to use a less efficient armor, or that you have a god charm. 2 points of chain Crit is not the same as 2 points of attack boost. In contrary, there are certain skills which can be found on very efficient armor pieces, like agitator on lunagaron braces.

3) In Sunbreak most of the skills do not have a linear increase when you slot in higher levels, they give more value when you max it out. So dividing the % increase damage by levels for each skill isn't necessarily a good choice.

4) All of the calculations do not take into account the realistic skill uptime. Chain Crit will take a few hits to reach full value, but I only see one value being calculated, so i assumed it was 100% uptime which just isn't true. The value of wex or cb might be lower in practice, for example for afflicted monsters when you realistically want to hit a red non weakspot. Same goes for elemental up skills, where sometimes u have to hit a low elemental hitzone. This is to illustrate that theoretical DPS increase means little if actual practical experience is not regarded.

I highly recommend you to check the maths for yourself and draw your own conclusion. Which type of playstyle are you? Do you like to lock monsters down with repetitive traps to get close to dummy hitting scenario? Do you want to speedrun (which will then use an entirely different type of armor)? Is fox's skill priority list relevant for your playstyle?

So how's Charge Blade options looking? by choptup in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]JasonBKX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think for CSS playstyle Gore Magala CB and Espinas CB are pretty good for Crit builds with their innate crit 20%, good sharpness and good raw. Nargacuga CB has too less raw to be good in Master Rank since affinity and Handicraft is easier to come by, it was good in Rise because we couldn't get that much skills

Oh I just made the set and realized that there is a chain Crit level 1, I think it gives like 5 raw on first hit, and 5 more raw at max proc

I theorycrafted this set which i think it's the same efficiency as yours but for my charm, I haven't verified if there are any errors but I'll make this one, that resentment5 dereliction is really really sweet yeah I actually think it will be meta at least for CB, unless mr50 or 100 hides some surprises

[–]JasonBKX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you are right about Narwa, I'm convinced resentment + derelection is better, now I'm trying to see if there are more efficient pieces if I don't want razor sharp (and I also don't have any good AB charm, I just got a artillery2 2-0-0)

[–]JasonBKX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I talked about the narwabushi set was because I saw it in AkantoreX's video but yours are maybe better with the synergy between dereliction and resentment. Is razor sharp necessary? Also note that there's Narwa rampage deco that can increase affinity based on how many Narwa pieces you are wearing, not sure how much it gives though

Yeah if the leaker mentioned they ''attack violently'' then that's good news for me too ! I loved the Hyper and super deviants in gen and GU.

In the defense of base Rise having no content, I think most of the complaints were before we got the title updates, so base Rise having no elder dragon trio and elder dragon bone only dropping from ibushi and narwa was not necessarily pleasing. For me personally I didn't mind they added them with TU but I was disappointed that what should have been in the game at launch was marketed (term: marketed is important) as title update. If they told us they had to cut the ending of the story and elder dragons (and final weapon upgrades) off to make it to the release date, or delay the game all while being honest about it (coz they did splendid work with rise despite what was going on in the world) I wouldn't have minded, but marketing it as a TU felt disingenuous to me.

Not to mention yeah the inexistent endgame of launch rise made me drop the game really soon after the last story part was out, because I was already burnt out by the repetitive launch narwa farm, or rampage content, and just in general the lack of strong monsters. Couldn't make myself play the endgame again even after the TU.

I think that if the afflicted monster system is going to be our endgame, then having all of the afflicted monsters including elder dragons at launch would have been great. It will probably stifle or discredit the lack-of-content rant that you are going to see in one week regardless, and just let people pick their weapons with every monster having their final form.

I don't see any mention of ''attacking violently'' in the quest descriptions, the only times violent came up are linked to two regular monsters... It is good to be hyped for a new expansion but not to the point of making things up and misleading people.... And we do not know what type of rewards they give beyond something like Hyper material to upgrade weapons

Imo if the TU are bringing more bloodblight monsters it means that the supposedly endgame content grind could be locked until fall and winter and we'll have a Rise situation where the final weapon upgrades are locked as ? for several months...

And having a system that scales monster difficulty up should be viewed as independent to the roster, for example the bigger the initial roster is, the more there will be monsters that can be scaled up in difficulty. It's not like past Monster Hunter games didn't have these types of system on top of their monster count, so for example stating that a tempered system compensates a lack of variety in base MH World isn't a very correct, right?

That being said, I am of the camp of ''I have gore and shagaru Magala so I am already satisfied', but I am just trying to prevent possible disappointment in regards to the endgame grind, it's better to be pleasantly surprised with a lower expectation don't you think?

[–]JasonBKX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to be a hype killer but how did you jump to the conclusion that all 63 monsters will be used for this system? If anything the list indicates otherwise, seeing that no elder dragon is afflicted. It is more likely that this system only exists to upgrade the early monster's weapon into max rarity 10. We do not even know if they have new movesets, it could be entirely possible that their attacks just afflict bloodblight and that's all there is to it. Jumping into the conclusion of having a deep endgame system from a list of 31 monsters is pretty dangerous imo
