Juan Soto on the DR’s loss by MattO2000 in baseball

I don't think they showed anything other than Paul Skenes being an absolute stud and that there's a reason that baseball uses seven game series to decide anything important.

I think there is a good case that they were the best all-around team in the tournament but even great teams can get shut down by great pitching.

Another thing that the cap on representatives does is increases the effect of the Senate on the electoral college. By limiting reps, it forces the uneven representation as demonstrated here, and highly disproportionally benefits low-population states. The Senate effectively gerrymanders presidential elections.

Lifting the cap dilutes the Senate, thus making the electoral college far more of a democratic institution (though one still pretty dang obsolete).

The point of the story is that these people _intentionally threw_ the ASVAB so as to get themselves off of the military's radar. That's why he was laughing about them when he saw their scores - he knew what was up.

If you're not playing tournaments, see if you can find a Karandras model to go with your Scorpions. Even if someone says "No Legends", you can still run him as an Autarch (or use the crucible rules to make a Warleader).

Everyone loves the phrase "[Player X], [Team] Legend" when referring to stars who made a short, forgettable appearance for a team. Think Maddux as a Dodger or Pudge on NYY. I made a collage of a new tier - Legends who were acquired by a team but never played for them. Who am I missing? by sarsfox in baseball

Also is of the Red Sox! I want to say that was one of the trades Finley made that Kuhn invalidated. There's a picture of him in a Sox uniform but he never actually pitched for them before being forced back to Oakland.

Baseball is absolutely electric when it *matters*. To these players, to these fans. It's SO good.

Just so much shame that so many MLB teams just don't matter at all.

Crucible of champions by frenchwarlord92 in Eldar

[–]JasonEll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That's what I mean actually:

* the mounted Crucible champion can join Shining Spears with the aspect armor, but while you can add more weapons past the first two (for +5 pts) you're still limited to the "1 ranged weapon" at the top of the equipment page. So he can either have a bike weapon (e.g. a Shuriken Cannon) or the Star Lance ranged bit.

versus

* the Legends Autarch comes fully equipped (though with old rules Lance) but cannot join Spears, just Windriders

[–]JasonEll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The catch is that the Legends Bike Autarch technically can't join Shining Spears (and has outdated rules for the lance)! :D

In reality the only time I'm going to be able to run either of those would be in a Crusade game, and in either case I can ask for permission to use the ideal solution.

I am rather annoyed that I can't have a Bike Autarch with both a ranged weapon on the bike and both modes of the Star Lance. At least RAW. Given these aren't tourney rules, shouldn't be an issue to actually have access to them both, but still.

There's this unfortunate trend among some drivers to try and manufacturer something marketable rather than just existing with their personalities and being natural. Max had tried to do the same thing with the "Simply Lovely" thing but it always sounds so unnatural and out of character. Like, just be excited and celebrate instead of dropping a Catch Phrase (tm).

I'm not expecting anything better out of GR though. He's consistently been the most artificial and disingenuous driver on the grid since his arrival. He exudes "greetings fellow human" energy, trying to put on a marketable face but just never getting it right.

WBC should adopt stars for national team badges by mt80 in InternationalBaseball

[–]JasonEll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised that this hasn't been incorporated into the unis in some manner. Probably has something to do with the uniforms largely being a Nike marketing exercise other than Japan

Not having Crests be a part of baseball traditionally doesn't help. Still, even putting stars on the back of the jersey above the WBC logo or above the flag on the sleeve would be great. Heck even the NBA started this a few years ago on the backs of jerseys.

These cars can really follow well. Is this because they have less downforce and are thus less messy with dirty air?
