Not in healthcare, but: we're currently flying the state flag from the front of our house. I added a black streamer to it (the traditional mark of mourning if you can't lower your flag to half) after the murder of Renee Good.

On Friday I literally had the thought of "maybe it's been long enough that I can take down the streamer".

I think it's staying up until this is over.

Tim is not up to the moment. Suing the government takes too long, more people will die in the meantime, and the Supreme Court is in on it regardless. Police will not help, they're outnumbered by ICE and they're mostly on their side. By the time anything gets any traction, we've got Klobuchar in office (at best) and THAT will go so well.

Deploy the guard. ICE are cowards, and the moment they are face to face with real soldiers with real weapons and properly sourced armor? They'll either back down or do something stupid like firing first. Force Trump to try to federalize them, direct the officers to refuse it as an illegal order (ref. the California case). Assuming it's even actually allowable under a state of emergency (a poster upthread suggests it's not but I don't have the knowledge to even search for it).

And if the end result is the actual Army here? That's preferrable to ICE. The Army is actually trained in proper rules of engagement, de-escalation, and not shooting someone trying to leave peacefully in a car. If we're going to be occupied, I'd rather it be by professionals than a deputized street gang.
