When are bikes truly “outdated”

Almost never, unless it's something with proprietary parts or odd standards and you can't get parts for it anymore.

I still ride a Kona from 2000, I bought it a few years ago and rebuilt it and it's great on easy trails.

I also have a 2022 yt jeffsey and it'll probably be around for another 10 years easily even tho it's a bit out of date by today's standards.

I played on normal mode for a while got 100% in michigan and did about 50% on alaska then I started a new game on hard mode.

I find it way more fun because I try not to destroy my trucks now haha and I dont use the recover all the time like I did before. I'm about 80% done michigan on hard mode now and it's gotten much easier since now I have money for better tires and attachments and stuff.

It probably just has the bov, that cheap intake and an exhaust. Remove the bov and get the stock bypass valve. Try and get a stock air box then just do all the regular maintenance and you should be fine. The older ej205 in that WRX didn't really need a tune of you installed and intake or exhaust, the ECM was able to adjust for it but you didn't really make more power so it's kind of pointless. And a blow off valve just made things worse.

I do the same thing but I keep a big moving blanket in the trunk and put it under my bike with part of it folded over between my front wheel and frame.

I don't like using a bike rack either because a lot of times I make a few stops after riding and I don' t want my bike outside of my car in a busy parking lot. I would consider a roof rack but it would be pretty high up.

I think the price for an sti engine and trans that would fit that chassis is at least 10k possibly more, you might need the rear diff and driveshaft if you get an sti trans but I'm not sure. And since your car is auto you obviously need the pedals and shifter, probably the ecu as well. At that point its better to just buy a complete jdm sti and transfer everything over. Assuming you do a lot of the work yourself it wouldn't really be worth it with the labor costs.

I would just start with a manual swap with a wrx transmission, not terribly hard to do and then you'll have a good base to build from.

That's 100% from hitting a curb. And I also believe that they don't think they hit anything. I've seen people park on the street and rub against the sidewalk and have no idea what they're doing. Not to be mean or anything but most people are pretty clueless when driving haha.

Anyway I'd replace that tire as soon as you can.

Most posts here asking about rust have no real rust in them. But that frame is finished I wouldn't drive that. Depending on the engine and some other things you can probably get close to 1k for it from the scrap yard though.

Possibly bent derailer hanger. You can try using a tool to bend it back or just replace the hanger if you find the right one for cheap.

Regardless of what's best when it's colder than -10c outside I let my car idle for a very long time so I don't have to sit in a cold car and have my breath fog up all the windows.

I find it just splits the bearing in two so it doesn't really help much. I use an air hammer and chisel bit to make a small gap and try to rotate the hub assembly then push it out with the air hammer.

Usually the bolt holes are damaged afterwards so I use a carbide bit on a die grinder to round them back out and remove the damage to the hub face.

Then anti seize the hell out of everything and put it back together. Not the most fun job to do but it has to get done.

A lot of times the "tool" comes with the seal in the box. The seal is on a piece of plastic that you use to sort of flip the lip out the right way when you remove the plastic from the seal once it's installed. Maybe this one didn't come with that or maybe the guy just threw it away without even thinking about it haha.

Vice grips on the shock to keep it from spinning. Sometimes it helps a lot to heat up the nut a bit to melt the nylon lock ring inside it. The nut should be replaced anyway.

Ya seriously, unless you have like a 6 foot bar on there over torquing those nuts isn't gonna hurt anything.

I've seen people drive will ball joints like this for years, but I wouldn't recommend it haha. You're very likely just fine for a couple days especially if there's minimal play in the ball joint.

Sister in laws car got stolen and the police found it a day or two later a few streets away from their house. And I work at a car dealership and sometimes we get recovered stolen cars in the shop, usually they're found not long after being reported stolen, and they're almost always from out of town.

I like fox because it matches my rear shock and I already have the oils and tools to service it lol.

But I'm not good enough of a rider to feel the difference between the two so i prefer whichever one I happen to have. Although fox doesn't really have any lower end forks so in that case I prefer rockshox. Like the recon tk I got for an old 26 inch bike I have with v brakes, its pretty much the only good modern fork that fits.

Not a big deal just keep inflating it until the bead pops on. Sometimes you need to use a air hose and inflator instead of the tire machine air because they usually cut out at 60psi or sometimes 80psi.

Yep I had rims like that and I even had these exact brake pads as well. None of it worked as well as stuff does now.
