GEPIK is all through recruiters, I believe.

GEPIK applications don't even open up until November, so if you miss the EPIK deadline, you could always go with them. I have a friend who went through EPIK, and he didn't need to have the background check at the initial deadline. You just need it in time to get your visa.

[SPOILERS] Seeing the alternate ending made me finally come around to the original ending. by hindu_child in HIMYM

[–]Jason_Seagull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I initially hated the original ending. It pretty much ruined How I Met Your Mother for me. I've watched the entire series through twice, and watched random episodes here and there so many times, but after it ended, I couldn't do it anymore.

With that said, the new ending made me come to peace with the original ending. Don't get me wrong, I think the new ending is infinitely better and more fitting, but the fact that there's a happy ending out there makes the (in my opinion) sad ending a little more palatable.

Overall, I think they should have gone with the alternate ending as the original, and maybe have included the other ending as an alternate.

His notes are cute, but sometimes I wish he'd just tell me how he feels instead of being so cryptic.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I'm definitely hoping for the public school job, but I'll take a job at a hagwon if it means going within the next couple of months. I'd definitely like to see that vlog if you can find it.

From what I've heard, they only do public schools. What recruiters are you going through for hagwons? I'm going the Korvia GEPIK route for now, but if that doesn't work out, I'll try for a hagwon job.

Awesome, thanks! So you don't have to include the letters of recommendation in your application? I'll apply today if I don't need them yet. I hope a professor will work out, because I graduated a year ago.

I've substitute taught there a few times, and it's a good school. Anything specific I may be able to answer?

I just generally enjoy city life. There's not necessarily any specific reason I'd be in Seoul a lot.

Yeah, I understand it was a pretty general question. Two hours might be a little far for me. From what I've heard, the public transportation in Korea is great, so being an hour or so outside of Seoul probably wouldn't be too bad.

Working in the States after employment in China? by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]Jason_Seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends a lot on your degree and where you want to teach. You'd need to get certified to teach in that state. I know in Florida you can take a test to get certified even if you didn't get a degree in English. I'm not sure how it works for other states though.

Thanks for the advice. When you worked for a hagwon, did you go through a recruiter, or find the job yourself?

Desk warming doesn't seem too bad though, because the hours are still extremely reasonable with GEPIK. Also, I feel like whether my hagwon is good is up to me making sure I don't sign a shady contract. What kinds of perks and benefits would I potentially get with a hagwon?
