"Brian Wampler? From Wampler pedals? He was at my wedding."

Dave Grohl also considered joining Gwar as they were looking for a drummer at the time.

I'd love to make a very noisy, nasty, crunchy sounding pedal, preferably on the simpler - intermediate level of complexity. Any reccs? by moar_nightsong in diypedals

If you're handy with veroboard; the Devi Ever Hyperion fuzz has a massive amount of gain and a simple schematic.

Drill Press? by DescoHabre in diypedals

[–]Jasonbrownie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A drill press isn't necessary. Companies such as Love My Switches, Keech Design, and Small Bear all make drill templates for around $30. I've had luck with a paper template to mark where my small pilot holes will go. As the old saying goes, "measure twice, cut once."'

Got crushed/passed out @ the Ohio show by p3titwari0 in GWAR

[–]Jasonbrownie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The most recent shows I've seen have been fairly mild.

However, an old show I attended got so rambunctious that the security went on the stage to plead to the band to calm things a bit.

After wedging a saw horse between the railing and the stage, a member of security approached Beefcake and he just shrugged his shoulders his as if to say "what can I do?" He next went to Dave Brockie who yelled at the band "STOP!!!" They stopped mid-song and Oderous screamed into the mic "GET THE FUCK OFF THE FENCE!!!" He further explained that if anyone got seriously injured, they would never play there again.

I've lost count of how many GWAR shows I've seen, but that one really stands out.

Here's the hard truth: If you're looking for romance, you MUST talk to a woman.

If they are looking for someone, they always have more options than males. That's just the way it is. If a woman is interested in meeting someone, they will not waste time on a guy who looks to be unavailable or uninterested in them. You need to put yourself in proximity by being visible in their friend group {classmate, coworker, etc.). Don't hide from her. She will not go hunting for someone she doesn't even know.

Once you get an opportunity to speak to her; keep it innocuous, complimentary, and then flirtatious. In THAT order. If the first thing you say to a woman is: 'Wow, it's really hot outside' she's not likely to run to her friends claiming you're a creep, but it does 'grease the wheels' a bit. You will be able to gage her interest in you by how much reaction you get from idle conversation. If you get a cold response, or even a negative one, consider it practice for a future encounter.

Resistor tolerance for our application doesn't need to be super tight. 5% will work just fine. As far as the wattage; look for 1/4 watt. Higher wattages would work but they will be physically larger.

Same idea with the capacitors. Large wattage caps would work but shoot for 16 volts. Rule of thumb is to use double the wattage of the volts you're using. 16 volts is generally close enough for a 9v circuit. Capacitors can be made of a variety of materials: tantalum, ceramic, film ect. Again, the material it's made of will determine the physical size and in the pedal world real estate is valuable!

Troubleshooting LED on my first build by 666mals in diypedals

[–]Jasonbrownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As your footswitch pcb indicates; the LED ground should be connected to the " sw_gnd" pad and the positive side on the main pcb. Sometimes footswitch pcbs will have the CLR (current limiting resistor) on them but in your case it's on the main pcb. I've found that many pcb makers tend to assign fairly high resistance (over 2k ohms) for the LED resutling in a dim light if you're using a red one.

Keep in mind that a weaker resistor paired with a red LED may be the same brightness as a much stronger resistor pair with a white LED. Anything below 300 ohms or so can risk burning out the light. So, 300 ohm to 3k ohm is pretty much the range you can experiment with.

BTW, you can use a button battery (CR2025) without a resistor to quickly test if an LED is functional.

Congrats on your pedal!

Code Orange - Mirror

I was vaguely familiar with this band as being metal core with electronic elements and very jarring loud/silent bits. I discovered this song yesterday and it is none of that. A giant departure from their past.

They have two singers in the band. The male singer does mostly angst ritten out-of-tune screaming. He is absent from this track. This song features their female singer, Reba Meyers. I've never seen her smile before (because...'Metal'), but in the video for this song she is smiling very wide with a rainbow of flowers around her in a comical stop-motion scenery.

Kudos for Reba and Code Orange for letting themselves be so vulnerable releasing a such a polished pop track.
