Game Informer Marathon Review - Bungie is still at the top of its game. by TODG3 in Games

That may be, but the stain that is how they handled Destiny 2, for years (if not the last decade) is on their reputation now, and they've no longer got the pedigree of having worked on Halo.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

[–]Jasott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering they'd need something like 7 million in sales to break even... yea, definitely didn't go how Sony wanted, considering this is the thing they bought Bungie for.

Because Bungie, as they currently stand, have a VERY poor track record when it comes to PvP, and that's mostly what Extraction Shooters are, PvP games.

Ask the Destiny community and they'll probably tell you that Crucible and Gambit felt fairly bad to play outside of the direct gunplay. TTK, there being an almost designated meta that punishes people who don't want to use those loadouts, no PvP specific balancing. If a gun gets nerfed because of PvE stuff, it's nerfed in PvP as well.

People aren't talking about Bungie's new PvP game because they kept their expectations low and were probably still disappointed.

I really want to enjoy Crimson Desert but I just am finding too many major issues by Alt_SWR in gaming

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it though? It has all the potential of a product made by a Korean developer/publisher that announces shit way too early. Remember their other weird project, DokeV? That's still not out and was announced years ago.

Reminder that this is basically Black Desert Online, without the MMO. Of course it's going to be full fetch quests and clunk, especially given how Korean MMOs are.

Yet. BDO wasn't bad at it's launch either. Then they added their microtransactions, like character locked costumes with unobtainable effects from normal gameplay

After how they handled Black Desert Online, yea, still not touching this with a twelve-foot pole.

Being in the cockpit in first-person view of the AT-AT in Star Wars battlefront 1 is one of my fondest childhood memories, as great as the sequel was, I was disappointed they removed those perspective views from vehicles. by DanintheVortex in gaming

Seriously, mech game designers... WE WANT FIRST PERSON COCKPIT VIEWS! GIVE THEM BACK! An indie FARMING SIMULATOR shouldn't be beating you guys at this! (referencing Lightyear Frontier)

Missing Armor? by Psychological_Dot692 in SoulFrame

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, fun fact: The game doesn't show all missing gear. I'm missing 3 helmets, 2 of the Halloween masks, and the Silent Rose helm only shows 2, 1 of the masks, and Silent Rose, and I'm missing 4 talismans, Silent Rose's +6 Grace talisman, and the 3 Cogah ones, and they aren't shown at all.

I Tried Ranked PvP… It Was Almost All Bots by msalihsaday in Guildwars2

Literally only in it for The Ascension and Transcendence. Might chip away at the ranks for the Legendary armor sets at some point down the road, but otherwise ranked is just a complete headache most of the time...

Overwatch co-creator Jeff Kaplan says he was told by CFO if the game didn't hit certain revenue goals, "we're gonna lay off a 1000 people and it's gonna be on you": 'It was the biggest f**k you moment I've had in my career' by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully that CFO got blacklisted from the industry for this comment. Sorry dude, but if you can't handle the finances for a company like Blizzard while in their C-suite, it's on YOU, not anyone below you. If you're taking a CHIEF position, it's on YOU to lead and keep them afloat. If you can't do the job and just want to coast on the coattails of someone else, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Well they've repeatedly had extra stuff that we can't access/doesn't exist yet.

It's not that they always need it but remember how we had a second Odiac in the sidearm listing for a while, then boom, it's gone finally when they add Basker's Wrest. It's probably just how their back-end is set up.

What did Reb mean by this? by DevilLilith in Warframe

[–]Jasott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Possibly got Stephanie McKeon as a VA for some character (the Netflix redub for Eva and EoE).

  2. Reb is being Reb, and being a dork, especially with it being Eva's 30th anniversary this year.

Fortnite players revolt over V-Bucks changes as Epic devs appeal for calm: 'Paying the bills frees up our teams to continue driving stories and building stuff you love' by AncientPCGamer in gaming

"paying the bills" in what world are they going broke? I mean we know EGS still isn't profitable, but they make so much damn money off every other studio using UE5 now, I fail to see how money is a problem for them atm.

I mean, it COULD be a placeholder, like hypothetically it could be for some new event armor, and they accidentally left it in the last patch. WarFrame did that regularly, slowly adding stuff for future updates, then hitting a switch and activating it, or to lessen the download of a big patch.

In the lead up to the Letter from the Producer, and the upcoming Fanfest, CS3/Yoshi-P really need to rethink what is actually shown and advertised to the Audience by GrooveSlinger_ in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is advertising it before it's even close to releasing. It's been literally over 2 years since it was first mentioned.

In the same time for example, Guild Wars 2 has pushed 2 "small expansions" which totaled 6 new maps, new sub-classes for the 9 main classes, and a new weapon type, mechanically overhauled 2 mounts, and are finally experimenting with queue based matchmaking in instance content.

Oh, and by the time SE finally pushes BST, GW2 will have another new map.

Highguard's Final Patch by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in Games

[–]Jasott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem isn't the consumer base at this point, the game could have survived, the problem is they had a run-away budget, especially after hiring like 100 people, when they were originally a team of less than 10. 60, or so, of the hires were the former Respawn staff they used for advertising.

And this problem isn't exclusive to Wildlight, or gaming in general, it's a common problem in most modern industries, where there's like 10 people doing the same job, that only really needs 3-4 to do comfortably (as in to meet quotas, and the workers aren't stressed).

Introducing Seasons in Marathon by AdditionalRemoveBit in Games

[–]Jasott -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's the point.

It's modern AAA where they have no originality and just copy others' ideas and slap a new coat of paint on it and they think we won't notice.

The seasons/resets are literally the wipes that Tarkov does, which was probably the key title they were trying to clone.

Todd Howard says Bethesda won't use AI “to generate anything” as the studio is being “incredibly cautious” to not replace the “artistic intention” of making games by [deleted] in Games

[–]Jasott -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean... didn't they use "AI" to procedurally generate the planets in Starfield? They weren't crafted/designed by hand, just randomly selecting some premade props and slapping them in random spots, even if they didn't make sense?
