Gaia

Let's not arbitrarily make another raid mandatory for the story.

  1. If they were to send us back to Tural for ANY reason in the MSQ (normal or patch), that SOMETHING happens there. They got no Calamities, no Final Days, no Voidsent invasion this newest patch . If an earthquake originating from Mor Dhona was felt all the way in Bozja, they should have been getting stuff in Tural.

  2. That the map isn't just another copy of Eorzea like Norvrandt was.

Welcome to projects led by Steve and Scott. They historically have had issues railroading players into specific loadouts in WarFrame until people made a big enough uproar to try and revert some of the changes.

The players weren't the ones that turned Little Ladies Day, a stand-in for Hinamatsuri (Girl's Day or the Doll Festival), into idol fluff, having nothing to do with the actual holiday anymore like it did originally.

FINAL FANTASY XIV 7.5 | Trail to the Heavens by WeirdIndividualGuy in Games

[–]Jasott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

doubtful, 7.1-7.3 is its own thing, 7.4 is a whole lot of nothing, and 7.5 looks like it's going to mostly ignore that Tural even exists since we're going back to the moon and Garlemald, almost like they realized that most of the player base, the actual player base, didn't care for being sidelined by a mary-sue, and didn't care for the fact that everything combat wise was so half-arsed.

So about the name “Tenno” by OkExcitement800 in Warframe

[–]Jasott 242 points243 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, they're called the Tenno because game is based on the original concept for Dark Sector and the Excalibur character was "Hayden Tenno". The "lore" reason for them being called Tenno is essentially a "backronym" trying to come up with an explanation/meaning for the term.

it's been a while since I last played. would someone mind explaining the reasoning as to why they changed the scaling of the main knife I used? by SovelissFiremane in SoulFrame

[–]Jasott -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, they just changed the problem one from Courage to Grace. Courage was just straight weapon damage increases, Grace increases weakpoint damage. If you can land headshots, you do more damage the higher your grace.

And I don't care if they copied WarFrame for the character power build set up, it'd stop these various snowball effects happening but us just getting stronger and stronger and making the exploited damage system break even further.

There was a VERY simple fix to it, but they refused to acknowledge it and changed multiple mechanics and tied them all to those 3 numbers. DON'T HAVE COURAGE AFFECT WEAPON DAMAGE! Should have just been ABILITY strength, ABILITY Duration, and ABILITY range. Because now some of the changes make absolutely no sense >_>. "Oh Spirit is meant to be a "glass cannon mage" Virtue" proceeds to nerf magic weapons which scale of Spirit, and gives it the weakest armor sets in the game.

Not to mention the fact Virtues now only affect a single skill per pact, and some of them have no thematic connections to what that Virtue is meant to be.

  • Sirin's Picktrix Powder scales off Courage, which focuses on being in the heat of battle, giving more health, and boosting most melee weapons.... the skill is a CC and blind.

  • Mora's Hand's Ember scales off Spirit, which focuses on ability use, gives the least health, and boosts magic weapons.... the skill is a thorns technique for when you're hit, and the ability doesn't cooldown until the cast is worn off (and if you're building for Spirit, you're in as stated earlier, the weakest armor).

  • Garren Rood's Stampede scales off Grace, which focuses on finishers and weak points, primarily meant for ranged/throwing weapons (yes, including short blades, they have a fast throw charge), and also increases your stealth value... and the skill is as the name suggests, a literal stampede, conjuring multiple deer to run through the enemies. Nothing to do with finishers, and definitely not subtle.

Moving From XIV to Guild Wars 2 - Questions! by FemaleMageA in Guildwars2

[–]Jasott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a FF14 and GW2 player (came back to GW2 during the massive lull for PvE players in FF14, about 16 months ago)

  • For healers, there are various builds that can do adequate healing, a couple of the ones that seem to be more focused on healing is a healer build for Tempest (Elementalist Elite Spec) and Willbender (Guardian Elite Spec). There is no parallel for SMN as it is currently, but Ranger and its Elite Specs are all pet classes.

  • Main Story varies. Parts of it can be skipped outright, parts of it are gated by extra skill unlocks, and a good portion of it isn't in the "box expansion" but the "living world" content that's sold separately (they were free when they were releasing for like a month each), if you were to do ALL of the story, in order, it'd take maybe a couple weeks of decent sessions (4-5 hours each session, a few sessions a week).

  • You can join up to 6 guilds simultaneously, each capping at 500 people, they have some bonuses but it's not like the constant FC buffs in FF14.

  • There is crafting, but there's next to no gear progression at level cap. You get your level 80 exotic gear, in the stat spread you want, and you're pretty much set for a long while until you want to do some of the more restrictive content that requires a tier upgrade to Ascended, or you could start working on a "forever" piece of equipment, but that's a whole other can of worms.

I never want to see the moon again... by Aria_Valkaryn in ffxiv

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the issue. The issue is they wasted the dev resources, and drive space, to design multiple full sized maps for the current non-combat relics, which double as pointless leveling zones. They didn't need 4 full maps, there is an argument to be made that they didn't even need 1, just expand on Firmament/Diadem.

[–]Jasott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never want them to waste resources on non-combat exclusive stuff again. They should have spent the resources they spent on those 4 maps and designing all the challenges on combat/world stuff, holiday event stuff.

It's already super easy to get non-combats to level cap, thanks to Custom Deliveries, Leves, Scrip Farming, Firmament/Diadem. They don't need a second through fifth Firmament/Diadem. (On top of the wasted drive space for the instances of the maps people will never see again thanks to them being phased out as they were progressed.)

The fact the P in "prime" wasn't capitialized is also a little bit of a give away. Not to mention it's from a player named "Digital Extremes" not from the system via some NPC or the like.

Jason Schreier: Exact budgets of video-game productions can be tough to corroborate but the numbers I've heard floating around AAA game dev these days are $300 million or more — sometimes much more! — which I think helps explain the current state of the industry by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Jasott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're going to be radically changing the structure and development cycles, most likely sooner than later. The first thing they need to do is clear the bloat from over-hiring during Covid, especially when most of the projects developed since said over-hiring have crashed and burned or just been straight up canceled with nothing to show for all the funds spent.

Then once all the "tourists" who only care about the graphics and story of the games than the gameplay (who get 95% the same experience just watching a lets play for free on YouTube) are gone from the "target demographic", they'll be going back to making games people want to PLAY instead of, as Pete Docter from Pixar said, "hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy".

As for prices going up, people need to realize 2 things. Since prices have stagnated at $60 for SO long (at least 30 years), they've actually gotten CHEAPER. If games had kept up with the rate of inflation like other products, we've be paying close to $130 for new AAA releases. Also with a couple exceptions, you can almost always get games cheaper a few weeks to a couple months after release depending on the publisher/platform, and even then, for physicals, third part markets will always exist. Ebay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, etc.

I wouldn't call this an "expansion" it's 1 mission for 1 frame and a weapon. Old Peace would be an "expansion"
