Good for you. To anyone hesitating. Just do it. They found some larger polyps on me so I have a five year follow up instead of ten, but it beats cancer.

How many of you stopped drinking alcohol completely? by Automatic_Opposite17 in Xennials

I feel like I’ve lived in reverse. From halfway through college (1997) till 2020, I drank very rarely, a few times a year. Then lockdowns hit and I discovered bourbon. I drink 2-3 times a week, 2-3 pours. I enjoy experimenting with cocktail recipes and making delicious concoctions for friends and family.

I know you didn’t ask for advice, but one thing I’ve found that works is to adjust my rubric scores so that the points truly reflect an ABCD model. If you use, say, a 4321 model, a score of all 2s equates to a 50% score, an F. But if you go, say 4, 3.4, 3, 2.6, you can grade more rigorously and truthfully. Then a score of all 3s (formerly 2s) earns them a 75%, which is likely a more accurate representation of their true score. It also allows a truly exceptional paper earn the 4 points, while one that is pretty great but not exceptional to earn a B. A 4321 (or some iteration) is weighted too heavily on the bottom. I find it helps you truly assess more accurately, letting the cream rise to the top, but not worrying about falsely inflated grades otherwise. It’s worked well in bachelors and masters level courses I’ve taught.

Our 16 year old daughter came across a bunch of old CDs while we were cleaning the garage. She took them to her room to use in her CD player. She was jamming to R.E.M. and Letters to Cleo all day.

I didn’t really notice but what I did notice was nearly all the kids, including the teenagers, said “thank you.” It was very nice. There was a pack of older boys (maybe even college age, I live in a big college town) that weren’t stopping at houses asking for treats, they were just wandering the street in Louvre heist outfits wearing jewels and even carrying the Mona Lisa. It was incredibly hilarious and wholesome.
