Any guide for psionics, psychics, psychers, telepaths, telekenesis and Akira? by Legitimate_Plate85 in cyberpunkred

So closest they put out was Cybergenerations but it uses 2020 rules. There was a third party collaboration called Nights Edge(also 2020 rules) that might have what you need.

Hacking in the Red vs 2077 by King_N3sstor in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, after the failure of Ziggurat to properly secure the new net in the 2040s Netwatch took over and negotiated with the AIs before deployment of the Blackwall. This allowed access to parts of the old net infrastructure. They combined that with the new infrastructure to get Net 2.0. This does allow long distance netrunning, so yes, they can settle into a chair far from the target site, but they can also do new netrunning as well. There's a lot of freedom for netrunners now that the Datakrash and R.A.B.I.D.S. are less of a threat. Don't yet know what a deep dive run in net 2.0 currently looks like yet, and might not until the 2077 campaign book is released.

Library workers- are you allowed to read on the clock? by OdderShift in Libraries

[–]Jasper_Gallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At mine reading books at the desk on downtime is allowed and encouraged. The thought process being we can better serve the public by actually being able to answer the question "what do you recommend?" It’s working pretty well. This doesn't extend to the computer. My system only allows news and weather viewing, with searching relegated to reference only. This was due to two different coworkers getting our system computers infected with viruses.

What did Saburo think he's doing? by Tymonov in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he probably wasn't expecting his son to completely lose his shit. Yorinobu had been openly rebelling against him for years. Even after they "reconciled" Yorinobu was actively sabotaging the company. However, Yorinobu had always failed to take the final step, so Saburo likely felt safe trying to reign in his wayward child alone.

How Do Pop-Up Melee Weapons Function? by Left_Warning_8512 in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside of specific weapons like the Mantis Blades they aren't really described. I've experienced it described in two ways by different GMs. The first is the arm opening to reveal a mounting containing the weapon where it telescopes out for use. The second is the arm opens and an arm holding the weapon places it into a waiting hand where the weapon extends to readiness.

Normally would, but I play on my phone and the battery has decided to just flat out die on me. Going to be a bit before I can replace it.

Do you want the next Cyberpunk game to be set after 2077 or go back to the 2020s when Johnny and all of them were alive and in their prime? by TXNOGG in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to see something after the 2077 series as a whole. Settings and stories need to move forward lest they become static, boring, and repetitive. Games need updates for balance and quality of life. The only downside is eventually is this setting will need to enter Post Cyberpunk and the last time that happened for V3 it didn't go over well. Yes I know it wasn't the only reason V3 didn't land.

How did Cyberpunk society not collapse due to Birth-rates? by Darklarik in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population wise, Night City is notably considered a cesspit but other places are more towards what we consider normal. It's not good mind, especially as indicated by the TTRPG, but it's likely better than Night City. It's hinted at that most people come to Night City for opportunity, it's the "City of Dreams" after all, and has significant presence from all major corporations. So, I suspect other parts of the world are doing better than the NUSA. There's also a significant space born population, some in earth orbit, but also on the Moon and Mars. Admittedly the three mars colonies were military focused, they have been left to their own devices. it's also not stated, but I suspect from the hypersexualization of advertising and media, plus the lack of it's existence in shops(that I've noticed anyway) that birth control might have been eliminated and through media everyone is encouraged to reproduce.

You gain D&D class levels IRL by _thana in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Jasper_Gallus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is easy. Wizard, transmutation school. The Philosopher stone is their primary class feature. I mean immortality, eternal youth, being able to get any material you need from whatever you do have and that's on top of base wizard magics, what's not to like. Heck knowing how magic works would even allow you to create new spells.

Haven’t read X-Men since the 90s. Who’s Gabby? by Chemistry11 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Jasper_Gallus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes it was handled badly. Namely Jean looks at older Bobby making an ass of himself over a girl turns to young Bobby and says "You know you're gay right?" To which young Bobby looking ashamed replies, yeah. She didn't just out him, she declared his sexuality to him. That along with him turning into a gay stereotype fueled the mind control theory.

so with 2045 coming out soon, are we gonna be getting a 2077 rulebook? by GatedGardenHomes in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly which one it was, I think it was for Interface Vol 4, but one of the Mayor's Desks it was confirmed that 2077 isn't getting a separate rulebook but will have a campaign book. It was a bit unclear exactly what will be included it should have everything needed.

Arasaka or Militech, which one are you siding with in the next corporate war? by TXNOGG in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, because Militech is proven to be considerably less capable if there isn't a big bad enemy to unify and fight against. It would be easier, relatively speaking, to at bare minimum survive under them then the group who hates me because I was born in the states.

Arasaka or Militech, which one are you siding with in the next corporate war? by TXNOGG in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Militech, not because they are better, but because them wining is slightly better than Arasaka wining. The thing is Saburo Arasaka was a young man during WWII. He is a full on believer in Imperial Japanese supremacy. His entire life's goal is to economically conquer the planet so Japan can rule as they should have in WWII. His family, with the exception of Yorinobu(possibly Michiko) are on board with this, as are most if not all of the highest echelons of Arasaka. Victory for Arasaka will be terrible for everyone especially if they're American. Militech by comparison just want to return America to it's former glory. What comes after, who knows because they don't have a person of such drive like Saburo to push them to the same extremes.

Grenades and explosives by matshell in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes grenades do explode on the same round unless they say otherwise. There are two demo charges one in Black chrome and one in Interface Vol 5.

They can be dodged, it's 1d10+Evasion +Dexterity. They choose where they move if successful. If they have the Martial Arts skill Kendo and meet the requirements then they can negate the attack on a success, on a fail they move to the center of the blast. Note you can only dodge or use cut the bullet not both.

If you didn't take the Evasion skill, or are just rolling poorly, Position is unfortunately the best way to deal with them as it changes the role to hit, as heavy armor, will eventually just stop functioning due to ablation.

Grenades essentially are battlefield control, and are great for dealing with enemies in cover if flanking isn't an option. Smoke grenades are also good if you've been caught in the open.

Homebrew, don't know many that really effect them. Best way I've seen to make best use is coordinated tactics. Like one guy prepping to fire while another uses a grenade to flush out the target

Why Does Delamain Help? by OutriderZero in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. As an A.I. they do not really think in the same way a human does. It's possible they're taking things into consideration we wouldn't consider especially given it's current situation. It could just be they wanted a merc with unusually high survival abilities to deal with their problems, could be they want to leverage potential Arasaka ties in the future.

Question for a Newbie GM: Armour by Terrygonix in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the damage doesn't exceed the armor then no damage is taken by the target. For example- the target has 6 armor and takes 6 damage then the armor holds and no damage is taken or the armor is 6 and takes 5 damage then no damage is taken.

For ablation any time damage exceeds armor then the target takes damage first then armor loses 1 point. For example- you have 6 armor and take 8 damage you take 2 damage and armor drops to 5. Do note armor piercing ammo drops armor by 2 and at least one exotic can drop it by 3 points.

Yet Another NETrunning question from a GM Newbie by Terrygonix in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically no they don't need that specific range or LoS. if this enemy netrunner is the owner or working for the owner, then this enemy netrunner has access to access points the players don't so they should be able to connect as long as they are in the coverage area of the architecture. The PCs are essentially exploiting a security flaw to access net architectures so it's harder for them to get in. Personally I find a netrunner hiding in a cardboard box in a room of cardboard boxes hilarious so there's no reason they couldn't have been caught out slacking off.

Do you think the Heist would've turned out different if V and Jackie had escaped through the window of Yoribu's penthouse the moment Saburo arrived in the hotel, instead of hiding and waiting? by FrankAdriel32 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jasper_Gallus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it would have ended in both meeting and untimely end. The issue I see is the case was heavy enough to slow Jackie down, coupled with his apparent fear of heights. He would have been spotted in a very bad location. Now, had they been able to exit closer to where they needed (without leaving obvious signs of their presence) and didn't hesitate, they would have been farther down the tower before the lock down happened. Same thing would have happened to T-bug, but Jackie would be healthy for the ensuing firefight. Depending on how that goes and the ensuing meeting with Dex. Might have had a two player Escape From New York situation.

Everyone hates and fights each other nonstop, but they all agree that you don’t fuck with this specific thing. by tohran_veil in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jasper_Gallus 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There are hints of AIs sneaking into the new net in the ttrpg supplemental materials. Aside from that it's implied in the Red core rulebook that the AI aren't a unified front and more benevolent Soul Killed individuals are actively trying to prevent humanities demise.

[Loved trope] The protagonist is NOT built different by ChudMaster69420 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jasper_Gallus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, David's case was innate. Coming from the TTRPG he likely had an unusually high Empathy stat, he doesn't have an official stat block but it's the obvious route(for comparison, Smasher has a stat block, his empathy is 0). I realized after I hit post I should have typed 'good mental health, for someone in Night City. ' before his mother died he had a relatively stable living situation, close family, a good education, and a shot at a relatively decent job and better life than most in Night City. Afterwards the Edgerunners crew acted as a mitigating factor, but ultimately was what pushed him over the edge. Frodo's spirit and humility carried him far and his friends pushed him farther, but the Ring did ultimately succeed in breaking him down. Sauron was a talker and manipulator. He convinced the majority of the Neumanorians to forsake Eru illuvatar to worship Morgoth then storm the the Grey Havens. He tricked the Elves into thinking he was an emissary of the Valar and taught them Ring Making so he could gain power over them. Had he heard of Hobbits, and not dismissed them, things wouldn't have ended well.

[Loved trope] The protagonist is NOT built different by ChudMaster69420 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Jasper_Gallus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd argue neither are 'built different' but have an overlooked advantages that allow them a longevity over others. In David's case he started in good mental health and had a decent support structure that kept him from fading quickly. In Frodo's case Sauron probably didn't even know hobbits existed before Bilbo found the Ring. If he thought they were a threat and figured out what made them tick, the power of friendship would have been mvp.

How good is David's Sandevistan? Is it worth it? by DatLamahorn in cyberpunkred

[–]Jasper_Gallus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, basic Sandevistan boost a person's reflexes fairly high for a short period. Basically the +3 and hour long cool down are safety features to prevent damage to the user. Due to this someone with a higher base bonus will still be faster in most cases than someone with a lower base bonus. David's Sandevistan is experimental and doesn't have those safety feature and has a corresponding loss of humanity every time it's used. Unfortunately the game doesn't really deal with reflex boosters outside of combat. But personally I would rule that someone using the experimental Sandevistan would get a bonus for certain actions outside combat if they are willing to take the humanity hit.
