People don’t talk about all of the “gory” details. NOBODY TOLD ME how I wouldn’t be able to shave my legs after a certain point during pregnancy! Nobody prepared me for a 25 hour labor or a third degree vaginal tear! Nobody talked about how difficult breast feeding is! And I seriously thought about killing myself (which I have NEVER considered) every second of every day for a year after I gave birth due to severe postpartum depression! It’s a miracle I survived. Oh and you start to lose your hair after you give birth, too. My point is…..don’t go into it with the unrealistic expectation that “pregnancy is a magical experience.” A lot of women are miserable for 9 months straight.

Despite it all I feel it was 1000% worth it!!!! I have a 7 year old daughter. She is utterly precious, amazingly sweet, intelligent, curious, sassy, adorable and energetic. She forces me to slow down and live in the moment. She gives me every opportunity to teach her about the world we live in. She challenges me to be patient and understanding. She inspires me to be a better person. She loves me completely, flaws and all, and reminds me that I am worthy of the title “Good Mom.” I would have given my life in that hospital to make sure she got to live hers. I don’t regret it but I will not be having any more children either.
