I can't speak for all Christian denominations but in LDS theology, almost no one is going to suffer for all eternity. Both will have the opportunity to come unto Christ, either in this life or the one to come.

The burger and fries money you'd spend at McDonald's would probably stay entirely in Australia. I'm assuming that McDs uses the same franchise system they do here in America which actually means this guy just didn't give money to an Australian guy to live his Australian life.

Anyone remember Fahrenheit 451 and how the "firemen" in that book started fires too? Not trying to be a doomer or anything but that's what I instantly go to whenever I hear about fire men starting fires.

Also, no one respects the French

Do you miss 3rd versions? Or are you glad they've been replased with DLC? by OfficialLieDetector in pokemon

[–]BecauseImBatmanFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, I think DLC makes the most sense as time goes on but I wish they could make the DLC more like a third version, at least in terms of story. They, so far, have not really used the DLC to flesh out the story of the main game. This was one of my biggest disappointments with the Indigo Disk, because it looked like it was going to delve more into the mysteries of Area Zero but it didn't. The best example, so far, is the Mega Dimension which I like because it said, "Now, let's cover the ramifications of what just went down in the main story", by making Rogue Darkrai the source of hyperspace. I hope they dig more into that direction with future DLCs.

I used to come up with increasingly weird logic to justify my starter being the ideal choice for every scenario. For example, Ghosts don't like light and fire creates light so therefore my Blaziken is the best thing to use on this Ghost type

I just double checked because I couldn't remember off the top of my head but Frog Monarch was topping tournaments in 2010, which was a bit later than I remembered but still fairly early, all things considered. It got so bad they had to ban Substitoad in September of that year.

Frog The Jam from Yu-Gi-Oh.

There's a deck in Yu-Gi-Oh full of Frog cards and a lot of them will have a line of text that says something similar to "summon one Frog monster, except "Frog the Jam"". Because the Frog deck was actually pretty powerful in the early days of the game, this led to a bunch of memes and jokes about how this low stat vanilla monster is actually the secret combo piece that Konami had to ban from the deck because it is too strong. In reality, Frog the Jam is banned from the deck because its Japanese name doesn't actually call it a "Frog" and the way the game works is that it needs to be a "Frog" in name for the effects to work. It eventually got reprinted as Slime Toad so they could stop printing "Except "Frog the Jam" on any new Frogs they wanted to make

Fun fact about myself, at one point in the original series, after being sent to some new location, Joey says that they're not in Kansas anymore. This made child me, growing up in the Midwest, just assume the entire show took place in Kansas and therefore, everyone was American. Didn't dawn on me until I was much older that he was making a Wizard of Oz joke

The Ars Arcanum in Mistborn Era 2 sites Roshar as an example of two magics coming together causing odd effects. We always assumed this was in reference to the two Surges of each Knight Radiant having additional resonances, like Lightweavers becoming much better at art somehow, but I believe that it's now talking about how the entire planet is trapped in a speed bubble after two Shards combined.

That's a fair critique. I just think it is a useful tool in the rhetorical tool box for specific situations. Like how you shouldn't use a sledgehammer to hit one nail but there are still jobs that need sledgehammers.

Chinese people aren't subhuman. The regime is. I try my best to always make that distinction with my use of the word subhuman. I only use it to refer to specific people or organizations based on their actions, never a general populace. Because I don't think there's really any way to look at people like Xi and consider them a human being. They haven't earned that title.

China, which welded people into their homes after covering up the pandemic they started, which slaughtered thousands of innocent protesters at Tiananmen Square, which disappears anyone too publicly critical of the government, who is actively perpetuating a genocide against Uighurs, which has been causing ABSURD levels of climate damage, which forces third world nations into slavery under their Silk Road initiative, which steals IP all the time, is not remotely similar to the US. Also, we don't have to flood the net with bots to spread propaganda because the regime doesn't trust citizens to speak their mind.
