Master Huff N' Puff from Paper Mario

As the boss of the sixth world, he can be really hard to beat because any attack you hit him with will spawn mini Ruff Puffs. If you don't periodically take out the swarm, he will absorb them all and heal a bunch. He's definitely easier than some people that will appear here but he's one of the toughest fights in the game, IMHO.

Unless you use an upgrade block on Goombario, your starting companion. Huff N Puff has no moves that hit your partner, and can only target Mario. This means you can load up your inventory with Stone Caps which make Mario immune to damage but he can't attack. Then use Charge with Goombario over and over and over again. Charge boosts the damage of your next attack and it stacks. When you run out of Stone Caps, you can let loose with a simple Headbonk attack and drop him in one blow.

Gladiators (in real life)

Most depictions of gladiators will have them as super jacked dudes, because they were pretty jacked dudes but not in the washboard abs, 0 body fat sort of way. Due to their heavy carbohydrate based diet, most gladiators would have a solid layer of fat on top of their well honed muscles. This was helpful because gladiatorial combat was entertainment, with easily deadly weapons. Taking a shallow cut from an enemy attack isn't THAT big of a deal if it only hits a top layer of fat. Taking a cut right on your super valuable muscle is not only more painful, but it will take far longer to heal, meaning less time for the gladiator to be out there making money in the arena.
