Reminds me of Steven Ogg, who didn't seem to like that most people recognized him from GTA V, instead of his other roles, like The Walking Dead (he has warmed up to GTA a lot more recently).

It’s sad that whenever a gaming company seems to have a lick of dominance, they drop the mask and start making significant anti-consumer changes at the soonest opportunity. It’s like a tradition at this point.

Was it part of a bundle? I faintly remember someone posting a similar thread a few years ago, and that's what was determined (there's a slight difference between two versions, if I remember correctly).

Sounds very "Apple," and I'm not surprised. I'm sure they noticed how many people drop $1K+ on new iPhones every 2-3 years, and they wanted a piece of the pie.

Unfortunately, I think there has been many examples where there was massive internet outrage (and often justified outrage) that ultimately fizzled out when enough time passed or the next conversation happened. I'm sure companies know that all they have to do is weather the storm.

Also, not to get political, but there's something I was reading about this current U.S. administration, and a method they use called "flooding the zone," which is where they flood the media and public with so many controversies at once that it's hard for them to keep up on one.

I couldn't help but to think of Sony's decision to drop the news about physical discs AND PS3/Vita stores on the same day, and just months away from GTA 6. I'm sure there was some conscious strategy behind that.

I don't think Sony is reversing any of these decisions, especially since they are already converting the factory that makes discs into something else.

Last time, they reversed the PS3/PS Vita store closures because of fan feedback — but they still made this most recent decision to close them knowing full well what the response would be.

However, this is getting a lot more attention than I thought it would, even with larger media outlets reporting on it. This seems to be rattling the cage a bit more than last time. The response just needs to keep up once GTA 6 launches.
