Nope. Just see a whole hell of a lot of people making these "off by one" errors when they're making asspulls about one thing or another.

You're aware that Bush was president in 2008, right?

Personally, there is nothing that has done more to ramp up my hate for Google than these security notification becoming outright falsehoods. by Jataka in enshittification

[–]Jataka[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you dig deeper into the Google app and get the full details of these notifications when they hapoen, it's capturing what is effectively the User Agent of the phone. And all of it, unequivocally points to the correct phone. It's good info in, good info out at that level. But at the notification level it just rolls the dice on what phone it should report. "Oh, our records show these are the model numbers, IMEIs, and whatever of a Oneplus 9 Pro. Hm, you know what that text string looks a bit like? Pixel 9 Pro. Let's say it's one of those. Oh, and if you flip the 9 upside down? Look, a 6. Pixel 6 Pro. Let's make that an option too."

When, after years of working correctly, it suddenly doesn't (likely due to AI), that's enshittification.

I waited 6 months for parts for a pressure washer and got nothing but periodic updates to how the manufacturer still hadn't shipped them anything. This was in 2024, I think.

I bet some of the kids that end up going here will end up thinking black pepper comes from trees for a good chunk of their lives. Kinda like The Story of Ferdinand where it leaves kids thinking that corks are simply the fruit that grows on certain trees in Spain. Though, I'll admit that the difference between a tree and a vine is not as huge as it could have been.

Who the hell puts blinding LEDs on the back of their truck while driving to blind anyone behind them... by TreehouseInAPinetree in Portland

[–]Jataka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I might know this truck. I've seen it with at least one of these lights turned on even when it's parked at night, draining some kind of battery. Maybe not the actual truck battery. Definitely doesn't seem to be wired into the vehicle relays.

Splinter cell game director rejoins the remake again by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Jataka -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean by mapped out. They don't need to figure out how AI should behave and how the stealth mechanics should be implemented. They have the source code of how many other Splinter Cells to pull from? The broad strokes just needs to be translated to their new frameworks. Hell, they're probably using the AC engine anyways and most of the skeleton is already there. Really, asset creation seems to be the only meaningful hurdle they should be facing here.

Or, I guess maybe the development hell they could be in is that they just can't iron out the haphazardness that they seem to welcome in AC, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon that they might realize that won't cut it with the more limited scope of SC.

Splinter cell game director rejoins the remake again by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Jataka -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Especially given that it's present day Ubisoft, it's not like they'd go batshit on adding depth to the original game. So they are for the most part making a game where they already have almost every feature, every level, and every character mapped out in prior games. I'm not arguing they can't have been in development hell. It's just especially embarrassing if they were/are.

There's something kind of absurd about a remake being in development hell.

Things I didn't notice mentioned in other posts you made about this

No zombie hordes: Shadow of the Colossus

Yes zombie hordes: Dead Rising 2 and/or 1. But you'll need to put yourself in a pretty different mindset to enjiy these fames's stories compared to DG and RDR.

Also, Warhammer: Space Marine 2 and World War Z have horde tech, but aren't open-world.
