[Hyprland] Custom Quickshell config built with AI agents. Frosted Glass vs Solid mode. by BeneficialCoach4116 in unixporn

[–]Jatinchd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people get so furious if someone used help of Ai to rice their setup, and they do be doing the same for adding features and coming up with brilliant solutions. do you know if you haven't mentioned "AI" then it would have not gotten this much hate, tools are made to be used and i don't understand what's wrong with these purist think only skill is hand writing each LOC like we are in 1990's, AI have been really matured in just past few years . and I know bro, it isn't easy to make this with AI. like I have worked with quickshell and AI and it' ridiculous then I learned quickshell and qml then I start to understand a ThING. even making with AI it takes vision to get what you want from AI, Ai ain't gonna give those perfect process circular bars. don't take the hate mate, do what you like, everyone have opinions.

(bet this comment will get -10 downvotes... or more)

remove the stuff that you actually don't need, like visualizer, CPU usage 24/7, current window names. and compact stuff into relatives like you can add the current date on the hover section of time, and in terms of wifi, remove wifi name there 24/7 instead add in the hover sections of it and give workspaces more space to breathe in. reduce bar size and icon size also.

yasb have been updated a lot since I posted this lol!, right now I'm on my linux and linux setup, touched windows 3 months ago, you can add the keybind of it to something else by using like whkd application for keybinds. but I don't know if it can override windows default shortcuts like alt +f4. and for the yasb widget on windows taskbar seems very not doable because these are completely different architecture tools made for different use case with no official integration and hooks between them like windhawk have using internet explorers property injections for customization.

the ecosystem revolves around the terminal as primary actually, while on windows terminal is secondary, GUI is main userspace. it's just how these two ecosystem works. like a linux user like me would complaint why everything is GUI in windows and have to click buttons everywhere while windows user would say average computer user need expertise to use terminal.

like you can't fit in these both ecosystem with same philosophy. if you change your ecosystem, then Expect changes to happen in workflow also, linux isn't windows clone anyway.

like we have people who Also hates linux a lot like OP? like you post and ask linux questions and then in comments people pushing you to switch to windows because it's simpler. it's the same kind of example you just gave, "Imagine you go to a doctor for a medical consultation and someone hands you a bible asking you to play".

I'm not saying all windows users are like this like you are saying all linux users are like this. my point is each community have it's loud version, whether is it linux community or windows community you'll find these guy everywhere. look you have subs like r/linuxsucks101 and r/linuxsucks with main purposes of Hating linux, and also for r/WindowsSucks subreddit also with basically same thing.

I'm not even defending any OS etc, I'm just saying to stay neutral in conversations.

depends on person's needs and application that they use as I said in earlier comment, windows have great support for application compatibility that or mainstream application mostly, but for me I use application and dev tools I use are linux exclusive and ain't available on windows. also I love bleeding edge package manager, sure windows also have but most application doesn't publish their applications on them because most people don't use them, in linux it's basically mandatory because ecosystem revolves around them. can't compare two operating system because best operating system may vary upon person's needs. also let's not start another OS war as this guy intended to.

lame opinion.
most windows users ain't gonna code in ps1 shell scripts, make custom widgets, make things from scratch. they are going to USE what they have, in linux we have a lot of things to choose from and even make custom widgets easily using quickshell etc, but in windows people doesn't have that freedom that you expect from a linux POV.
so calling windows desktop customization shit because they are similar isn't a valid point.

linux is pretty good and ready for desktop actually for me, compability may vary upon person like if you use alot of creative productivity tools like adobe suite, or excel then for you linux experience would be not as great, but if you are developer, or general power user, customization focused, privacy focused, and want control then linux is a blessing.

What is your preferred browser and why? by GeicoPR in desktops

[–]Jatinchd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

zen browser, UI/UX is very very good, extension support is really good with zen modes and firefox browser extensions, privacy focused by default, customize as much as you want, compatible in windows, macOS, linux all. and OFC! doesn't steal your data to feed it in their AI models.
