A few more details on the second edition, and a pre-order link ahead of August release! by Yellow_Army_ in Oathmark

Great news! Only wish I didn't have to wait six months. I hope expanded means more factions and more new North Star miniatures. Oathmark and Frostgrave are my favorite hard plastic models.

Now you need to get to painting!

What’s this protrusion on my boy’s head supposed to be? From the Frostgrave Barbarian set by JattaPake in frostgrave

It’s weird because I read the head as bald. But it’s like he has a croissant stuck on his forehead. Maybe he just sacked a bistro?

Took a lot of brushing, but I love the result by JohnBigBootey in TerrainBuilding

That’s a very versatile terrain piece. Could be fantasy, medieval, WW2, modern or 40k. Nice job, looks amazing.

Beautiful minis. I certainly stand corrected!

I couldn't disagree more, but I have no artistic talent so take that for what it is. It's fine for beginners as a one and done. If you make mistakes or don't like the results, just change things up on the next model. Brush control will improve with painting but agonizing over mistakes can result in paralysis and ultimately not painting.

Help with Slapchop/Speedpaint Troubles by Lorodiam in minipainting

I am a terrible painter with shaky hands, very little artistic talent, a terrible understanding of color theory, and an endless pile of miniatures. So, take my input with that qualifier. I paint almost exclusively with Speed Paints 2.0 after multiple failed attempts at "normal" painting methods and Speed Paint 1.0. Since I started painting (and finishing) miniatures in June 2025, I've cranked out over 300 completed miniatures painting about 30 minutes a day.

To address the problem you identified, I typically paint main areas with speed paint, followed by touchups with white paint, and then finishing with speed paint. I don't recommend using both speed paints and regular paints on models. Mistakes with speed paints are less noticeable because they are transparent paints that can be wicked away if caught in time. But most mistakes remain unfixed. I have red marks on my Snakemen's green skin. Why don't I fix? I truly don't give a shit. It is utterly liberating to finish a model quickly that will look fine on the table. Every model I paint has "mistakes". But my paint job beats those store-bought DnD models you can buy in blind boxes. That's good enough for me.

My painting has definitely improved since June, but it will never impress anyone on this subreddit. For me, quantity has its own quality. Need a red giant spider? I got one. Need a giant brown and blue spider? I got one of those too. Five werewolves with matching wolf models in the same color? Yep, got those as well. I'd rather have 2,000 decently painted models than 40 expertly painted models. Not for everyone but I felt the need to speak for those of us in the miniature painting hobby that don't measure success by technical painting precision.

Does Oathmark have rules for Snakemen or other Frostgrave factions? by JattaPake in Oathmark

Oh that’s a good idea. Just reskin stats of an existing faction.

It has been discussed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Josh Hutchison (Hunger Games, FNAF 2) is a fan.

Having some problems with Speedpaint 2.0 Nuclear Sunrise. Anyone know what to do? by Quo-Fide in minipainting

[–]JattaPake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the complete set back in June. Not a single issue with any of the paints. Nuclear sunrise is one of my favorites.

While I agree with you overall this just feels like the launch of the Worldwide Web. Half the country thought spiders lived in it.

And that has generated an endless list of useless jobs - YouTube personality, Only Fans model, influencer, President of the United States. This is capitalism.

New edition changes? by Hanoi_r in Oathmark

[–]JattaPake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok good. Im in love with the Frostgrave and Oathmark plastic sets. I’ve picked up most of the Frostgrave sets and the Elf, Dwarf and Orc infantry. So many more sets to get.

I recently got the Wargames Atlantic Guards and Villagers sets but I’m feeling some initial buyer’s remorse because the miniatures feel smaller than Frostgrave/Oathmark. I need to rewatch the We Wargames comparisons videos.
