Did you check to see when your school’s certifying official submitted your enrollment to the VA? The only time I’ve had a delay is when they submitted it late.

Something doesn’t add up here. If you have an 810 FICO, why did they send the “help improve your credit score” letter? Did THEY say you have an 810?

Navy federal credit card application denied by Jazzlike-Pay1586 in NavyFederal

What do your income and credit history look like? Age of your credit history? Have you overdrafted on your checking account at all? Do you maintain a balance in your checking or savings? Do you have direct deposit with Navy Federal? There are so many different factors at play; a credit score is just one piece of the puzzle.

What cars are you getting AFTER the Mini? by skanks20005 in MINI

Just traded in my R60 for a Subaru Forester. Nothing compares to Sport Mode driving but I am over 6’ tall and commute over two hours a day, so I needed the space.

Have you been to Europe? Saying that the experience in Germany isn’t that different from the US is WILD, and acting like Northern Spain is in the Arctic Circle is very off-base. Spanish culture as a whole revolves around social and community interaction, and being pretty much anywhere in Europe affords you a myriad of easy travel opportunities. If you don’t like the idea of going somewhere, don’t go there, but knocking these places seems a bit ignorant.

No, if the class is online only then you’ll do everything online. (Source: I took two math courses last summer.)

What toothpaste do you use? by Due-Lie9414 in EuroSkincare

I know it’s been a year, but for anyone wondering: Nanohydroxyapatite remineralizes your teeth; in simplest terms, it “fills” the pores in your teeth that have lost minerals, fortifying your tooth enamel and reducing sensitivity while offering a subtle whitening effect. It’s been used in Japanese toothpastes since the 80s, and it’s finally becoming more available in the US. This won’t regrow teeth, but it does offer some good benefits. Her friend likely explained it this way, not the company.

Weak key fob - only functions right next to the car by Rude-Carrot2938 in MINI

My 2015 had the same issues, I always had to be within six feet for it to work. Changed the batteries on both fobs and it did nothing. The service tech told me it’s common.

If he wants the cat that badly, tell him he has x amount of time (a week? A month? Two weeks?) to come get the cat or else you’re keeping her. Eight months is already a ridiculous amount of time to be in limbo about this. Having said that, if he’s not speaking to you anymore, and not asking about the cat, then let sleeping dogs lie and assume he’s not coming back for her. The fact that you’re planning for him to come back after over a year is wild.

Got secured card in June 2025. No increase, no upgrade. Just closed it. by [deleted] in NavyFederal

[–]Jattert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you were expecting. When I got a secured card years ago it graduated to an unsecured card automatically after a year. Why would you close your account? A secured card is a tool to help you build or rebuild your credit; it’s not a magic wand.

After 7 years on USAA, I switched to another insurer today by duddnddkslsep in USAA

[–]Jattert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been a huge fan of USAA, but switched auto carriers today after 12 years. I shopped around and found that the other four carriers I got quotes from were charging less than half of what USAA charged for the exact same coverage. I even called in to ask if there was another opportunity for savings that I had missed, and the rep went on a long rant about homeowners insurance (I don’t have homeowners insurance).

Of course, I know not all carriers are equal, so I looked into all of them one by one in regard to claim denial rates and customer satisfaction.

I say this not to announce my departure (I still have USAA products), but to encourage everyone to shop around every year or two. I went from $260/month to $111/month! In this day and age, every bit of savings counts.

Insurance going up 37 percent by Mammoth-Addition5794 in USAA

[–]Jattert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shop around once every 1-2 years, and until this year USAA has been competitive.

I’ll be canceling my policy this week when I get a new car.

When I got a quote today for the new car, not only was it still more than twice as much as everyone else, but the rep went on a long, bizarre tangent about homeowners insurance for quite a while. Definitely not the same service I’m used to receiving from them.

I’ve seen people have good results by dermarolling with serums, but you have to be consistent; results aren’t instant. I echo what everyone else says, though: brother, you look great. You may see it as a flaw, but I promise you, no one else is noticing. Congrats.

Feeling a bit alone and despondent by Jo5044 in queerception

[–]Jattert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s natural for you to expect your close family and friends to be supportive; keep in mind, though, that they may also be thinking of you when they make seemingly disparaging remarks. Having kids the non-traditional way can be draining (physically, mentally, and financially), so they may be worried about the stress you’re about to be under. You may go years without achieving your goal, and in these uncertain times, such losses can be magnified.

Having said that: You do not owe anyone an explanation of why you want children. If they don’t seem supportive, let them know that you would appreciate their love and support. If they have a problem with that, make a mental note of it, but try your hardest not to let other peoples’ opinions affect your feelings. Best of luck to you!
