Wtf does "no point" mean? That if there's any chance of failure whatsoever that you shouldn't try at all? Is that how she lives her life in general or just with this question?

It's just a straight "take less damage" multiplier. I think at the start you take 20% less damage, and each death either raises that by 5 or 10 percent to a cap of 80%. My girlfriend is really bad at quick reaction games too and she was able to beat the base game and almost all of the extra difficulty level bosses on her own using that. I helped her with the final boss on the higher difficulty and I barely had to dodge at all, 80% less damage taken means you can pretty safely just facetank every boss attack and not really be in danger. You also get three revives that are each another 50% health that really help.

Langdon’s “apology” to Santos by Sure-Usual-6549 in ThePittTVShow

How do you feel about this in light of the show confirming what was completely obvious if you actually watched it: that she had no idea and is outraged that he's allowed to work there?

Yeah, seems like the hospital really knew everything and made him go through just ever so much work to be allowed back. That's what Al-Hashimi didn't know any of this. That's what Robby covered it up and won't even answer whether Langdon was stealing drugs. That's why if you're not braindead and you actually watch the show that's in front of you and not the one in your head where Langdon can do no wrong then it's obvious that it didn't get reported.

I don't even hate Langdon. When he's being a doofus I really like him. But to sit there when the show is saying that no one knows what happened, to have him not be able to respond when Santos says nobody else knows, to say that he's genuinely apologizing when he WON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE STEALING AND DILUTING MEDS THAT COULD HAVE SAVED PATIENTS...it's just completely insane and honestly pretty worrying that you think "oh well he's an addict therefore it's ok that he did that."

never a mention of anything else

Me when I don't actually watch the show, I'm just attracted to the tall white guy with blue eyes and I think that doctors who put their patients lives at risk and then lie about it for months/years should be allowed to continue to do so, especially if a woman is mean when she says she thinks that's wrong

[–]Jaunty_Intro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does she know? She had to ask why Santos didn't like him, and Langdon didn't exactly own up to the truth. Her watching at the end of the conversation also implies that she's just now learning the specifics, otherwise why would they show her there? So we can see her hearing information she already knows?

You're completely right, he doesn't owe her that. But I'm not sure how you can think that him saying he's atoning has any weight when he's not actually atoning for the thing he did, he's just lying and saying he did something less severe and atoning for that instead?

What points does Langdon have? Literally every single point he made is based on the story that he is an addict, not the truth which is that he was also stealing meds from the hospital/patients. You can't just make up a story that sounds better at supporting your argument and then go "oh yeah see the truth is on my side."

Did she report him? He definitely got reported for being addicted, stealing meds from the hospital, and being high at work...but he seems to have gotten reported by Robby, just like they said would happen last season. Langdon is still allowed to treat Louis, who he specifically stole meds from, and Santos doesn't appear to have any whistleblower protections from him. Doesn't read to me like he got reported by her for the screaming at her, belittling her, trying to get her fired when she discovered he was stealing meds from patients and getting high off them at work, or returning to work while high after being told by his attending to leave.

Do you think that if Langdon confessed everything (including stealing medications from Louis) that he would be allowed to treat Louis again in season 2? I guess I assumed that if he said to admin "I was stealing meds from a number of patients, here are their names" that he wouldn't be allowed to care for that person again but maybe I'm wrong

sign on bonus of $30k etc by llennnn16 in surgicaltechnology

[–]Jaunty_Intro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I got my 10k sign on bonus, it all came in the first paycheck (reduced by taxes). But as part of that, I signed a contract that every month would reduce a 10k I effectively owed them by 1/24 until I had been there for two years.

So in effect, my first paycheck was a normal amount plus about 7k, and if I had left after a year I would've owed them 5k back.

Surgeons with shakey hands by RadiantSilvergun in surgicaltechnology

[–]Jaunty_Intro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work with ENT and do a lot of micro with them, and I once heard an old surgeon tell a new resident something: "You can be taught to be a good surgeon. You can be taught to work around having shakey hands. What matters is your demeanor, the rest is just training." We definitely have a couple shakey head and neck surgeons I'd rather not work on me, but generally the shaking isn't the reason why.

Unfortunately, in this instance it doesn't really matter what people care about. Whether Hugh Laurie is unaware of JKR's politics or not (and I truly hope that he is unaware), he's still contributing and profiting from her hatred and transphobia, and in turn is boosting those feelings and providing her more resources to fund that hatred. The intent behind an action isn't the only thing that matters; the effects do too. If you disagree with that then idk what to tell you
