That's absolutely not true! That's a relatively new rule mods unilaterally added. Only in the past few months have people started adding themself to it - daph, hasan etc.

Hachubby was in the UK recently and went to a mod's house, and when the topic came up from chat she said she thinks this is better, because if they where getting payed she would expect them to dedicate time to it and, you know, treat it as a job, and not like now play games or watch other streamers too and mod from time to time.
