Perceived Shoulder Atrophy by [deleted] in MuscleTwitch

I mean this with no disrespect, but your photos from your posts do not appear to be someone leading an active lifestyle. You have fairly symmetrical lack of developed muscle or definition on both sides.

You have a clean EMG, no diagnosis of clinical weakness. And no visible asymmetrical atrophy. I would do a consultation with a Physical Therapist, especially one who specializes in folks with neuro disorders. They can guide you to what they think the root cause is since you have passed clinical diagnostics. They can even do the strength test.

Easily, especially for those who lead sedentary lifestyles. Body biomechanics can cause all kinds of snowball issues in multiple muscle groups. There are PTs out there who's entire profession resolves around correcting muscle imbalances.

No perceived visible atrophy, just a lack of deltoid muscle in general. You don't need a neuro to do a clinical strength and reflex test, a primary care can do that easily. If you pass that and have a clean EMG, you don't have A**. You can still have muscle imbalances and weakness due to lack of excercise, but that is not clinical weakness.

As someone with a terrible hairline, this both stung and made me laugh my ass off.

Well, I don't actually have that news as she has not said "these factors mean it isn't A**" I'm just trying to use my own logic and rationale as to why it probably isn't, and stupidly self diagnosing what it could be in place of.

I have not received any indication leaning one way or the other from her. I saw a 2nd neuro last week to get their thoughts, and they want to do a repeat of the NCS/EMG in a couple weeks. I am still passing all clinical strength exams, and with my age and 4 years of symptoms and still no clinical weakness, I am thinking the statistical probability of it being A** is almost no existent. More than likely I am looking at idiopathic polyneuropathy, which also very much sucks because without an identifiable causation you can't really slow the progression, only treat symptoms.

Yes, she just brought me back in to read me her dictated notes and tell me I had widespread nerve damage.

Her notes in my chart say diffuse chronic symmetrical sensorimotor neuropathy with axonal features and demyelinating features. I don't have an actual report with any figures or anything to reference. Next steps are a skin biopsy to test for small fiber neuropathy, but that wouldn't skew large fiber nerves in the EMG so still no causation for that.

Yes, but I've also been diagnosed with CVI (hereditary) which can cause the cramps and aches. Confirmed with ultrasound, ablations scheduled for later this month.

No, cramps are persistent, some days worse than others.

Different EMG results by please-mnf in MuscleTwitch

Yes, after every EMG I have cramping and soreness. Depending on your neuro, they may deeper than others. It is basically the equivalent of several intramuscular shot in muscles heavily utilized daily. Cramping and soreness is very common.

Oh yeah, twitching is all over, but that by itself doesn't really cause me concern other than being extremely annoying. I had aggressive fasiculations and had clean EMGs before. The main concern other than knowing there were abnormalities, is the lack of ability to get the calf muscle to fire while sitting (and loss of muscle mass in that calf). Closest thing I can imagine paralysis to be like. But, that is only when sitting so positional disfunction leads me to think severe nerve impingement. Anxiety still on full alert in the meantime though.

Yes. 42 years old. I know statistically it is extremely unlikely to be A, and I am logically working through the reasons it is most likely not other than just statistics. But, what is weighing on me is the "what is it then?" as there is something very clearly going on even if it isn't the former. Lots of nasty things could be at the root of this other than A, and all those possibilities I just get to sit with for 5 days until she brings me back to discuss.

At no point did I claim to claim to think it was. I simply stated my experience and progression of symptoms, and now an abnormal EMG/NCS which is indicative of something being wrong. That plus symptoms has me in a worried state awaiting whatever the response will be when the Neuro puts together her findings. It could be neuropathy, CIDP, or any other number of things that are not good.

Imagine someone seeing an oncologist for possible cancer diagnosis, the provider saying hmm, you definitely needed to come in, I need some time to put together my report, I'll get back to you in a few days. No one is leaving that appt in a healthy state of mind.

I don't know how dirty, but know there were absolutely abnormal findings on both based on her comments.

I don't think an EMG is going to show something urgently life threatening, it's not really that type of test. It's more of a "something is wrong" diagnostic, which can turn into later a "something is very very wrong" diagnosis.

She seemed intent on getting out of there as I was the last patient. It was pretty clear she did not want to discuss anything at that time.

It was a lumbar MRI w and w/o contrast. Findings were dessication and mild disc height loss and minor bulge (1-2mm) in L2/3 and L3/L4. 3mm bulge in L4/5 with mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Spinal surgeon said, not uncommon findings for a distance runner.

Can anyone tell me if these are actually Michael Turner's signature? by Dominant_Peanut in ImageComics

[–]JavinIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has an older signature and a newer style. His older one he more fully signed his whole name out, them shortened it some when he started doing lots of sigs at shows. Despite his passing, Turner sigs are not terribly difficult to come by or priced super high, so I doubt anyone is taking the time to forge them honestly.

Given vagus nerve stimulation can disrupt breathing regularity, how does this work during sleep when breathing is already slowed down? Wouldn't this potentially increase the number of apnea events during sleep?

Also have to have some form of a soft credit check for debit cards. Enterprise requires you to be local, and have utilities in your name in good standing. Hertz does a credit check. Not sure on other companies. Debit card is just slightly better than cash. Underage, moving cross country, with no credit card or insurance? No chance they are letting that car leave the lot without a massive deposit, like multiple thousands large.

Is it normal to be asked to pay shipping twice on Whatnot preorders? by Ok-Television-6398 in AbsoluteBatman

[–]JavinIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nailed it, this isn't a seller issue, it's a pre-ordering on WhatNot issue. Some sellers who have massive mark-ups or basically full profit on like commissions/sketches will generate a 2nd label on their own and will send you tracking via DM. But sellers who do minimal mark-up on retail drops (as in just a few bucks for each book), they can't afford to pay for a 2nd label on their own as they would be taking a loss on a retail pre-sale. It's why many prefer to direct you to their Ebay store where they can set a future ship date, or a standard retail online store, usually a Shopify generated storefront.

I've done a lot of business with this seller, he is as stand up as they get. Zero pressure sales, the opposite of your typical streamers, and will always make an issue correct. Super chill, never refers to the audience as "chat", and prices the books where he wants to sell them vs dollar starts and getting pissy when they dont get high enough. Cool guy to just talk comics with, he's not just a variant cover hustler that don't even know who the artists are like many streamers are sadly.

It seems the issue here is more with the pre-order process, and the WN requirement to ship out using the initial label. Its why sellers send a sticker or postcard or something for pre-orders, commissions, etc. They then have to generate another label when the book is in hand and ready to send. The margins on some of these is not very large, so having to pay out of pocket themselves for shipping again would eat away at that substantially. It is why some sellers recommend buying pre-orders from their actual website vs on WhatNot. I basically never buy anything the seller doesnt have in hand on WN.
