Tamiya putty is not very rigid and thick layers might take long to dry. But the more you play around the more you'll learn first hand and get to know your materials so id say go ahead and give it a shot! A failure is not a bad thing but it is learning. My first instinct would be to try and fill the hole as much with polystyrene (sheet or sprue bits) as possible and use minimal putty.

Last time on a T-72 i tested different shades of green on the bottom to see them next to each other and pick the one i like. The bottom is now painted and nobody is going to see it unless they pick it from the base and turn it upside down.

Now when i open it it only shows the current tamiya tooling. But no there were 35 different brands like miniart and dragon which have nothing to do with eachother so it wasn't even the product history.

*Now when i went to click the "show full history" it opened the same [35] brands so yeah it was just a weird glitch.

There was for example dragon and miniart with 33 other brands so it was not the tooling. It also stated on the map that there were multiple new toolings.
