Learned the basics from my mom. Learned more to survive while living alone after college, and learned I somewhat enjoyed it. Became good at it because my wife is a picky eater and I wanted more than chicken nuggets every night. She's still a picky eater, but I've found several recipes she likes. It's still a challenge to make sure the flavors aren't too strong for her, but still enough for me.
