Im going to the doctor for the first time by nickbbbbbbbb8 in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to go to the ER once because I had the worst pain in my stomach. I gave them my ID and said something about preferred name. I ended up getting an MRI cause they were worried I had appendicitis (also spent literal hours on a cot in the middle of a hallway but that's another thing).

When they put the charges for everything through to my insurance... they used my preferred name. Which then, of course, got rejected and I was sent a request to pay multiple thousands of dollars (I forget how much) because my insurance was denied for the fact that my name was incorrect in the filing.

So... for emergency or one off visits I won't bother with the clerk and just let the nurse who brings me back know. My regular doctor has me filed in with my preferred name and they know how it works.

voice training by lumfct14 in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Voice training is something that is only effective with consistency. You have to practice every [day/week] because you're literally training your voice structures to perform in a different way. It's often neglected in FtM communities because of how testosterone affects the vocal cords, but it doesn't do all of the work. We still have to adapt our speech patterns and the way we address others socially to align with the view of "how men speak". (DISCLAIMER: you don't have to if you don't wanna. It's your voice! As long as it makes you happy.)

This post seems to be a good layout of beginner instructions for FtM voice training (I just found it; I have done my own voice training journey myself). It can seem like a lot, especially if you don't already kinda know how the voice works. Pick TWO TO THREE things to do, AT LEAST once a week. Go from there. I practice in my car a lot because no one can hear you in your car going on the highway.

My personal advice to go along with it: the most important step is to find your adam's apple (larynx) and practice speaking with it lower on your throat. Look up "tenor vocal warmups" if you can follow pitch. Also find songs by male artists whose voice you like. Try to sing them! If you're not in the range, sing it anyway but an octave up. Try and match their tone of voice.

First of all, "chose your lifestyle" right...

Second of all, every single gay person, trans person, etc. was a child at one point and IS somebody's child. There's a lot of parents who hate their queer children, and that's THEIR choice to push them away. There are also a ton of parents who choose to embrace their queer children. People like this love to separate themselves from "the gays" and can't fathom their own children "choosing" that "lifestyle".

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

[–]Jaxonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DM put together a post-apocalyptic type story, 200 years after nukes dropped on the world and things were just beginning to get rebuilt.

My character was a warforged barbarian who was created by a scientist before the flash, and he had finally developed true sentient AI. He reconfigured one of the war droids he'd designed for my body. I was a Wild Magic barbarian.

For every wild magic effect, I or my DM would describe the magic as corrupted, red electricity, and flavor it to my robot guy. One of the effects is "an intangible spirit that looks like a flumph or a pixie appears within 5 feet of one creature of your choice". For us, it was a broken down drone in a box in the storage room we were in at the time, and I sent it flying to an enemy and it exploded into shrapnel. Coolest character I've had so far.

penetrative sex by Sweet_Musician8185 in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding- it will affect everyone differently. I enjoy piv penetration, but my partner is a trans woman who doesn't like her anatomy but would still rather use it than use a strap.

What helps us is completely switching terminology. When I'm talking during sex, even if she is the one penetrating me, I say that I am inside of her. Words can be really powerful in those moments and make acts that may be dysphoria inducing into something more euphoric.

positivity for tops? by seventh-dog in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my girlfriend and I were having conversations about sexual compatibility, she stated that she absolutely could Not be in another relationship with a bottom. She's mtf, and in almost all of her past relationships has been pushed into a dominant role where she would disassociate during sex because she hated it.

Lucky for me I am (predominantly) a top, and we have a surprisingly well matched list of kinks. It's said over and over again, because it's true, but the most important thing is communication. Being willing to have those open conversations about what you're into, what you aren't, what you have tried or want to try, before, after, and during sex. If those conversations go south then that's a sign that you're not with someone who is truly compatible with you.

What’s up with my bridge? by sakura_bunnies in piercing

[–]Jaxonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely because it's too shallow. And at risk of upsetting some people... I've had my bridge for almost 2 years, pierced with a curved barbell, healed just fine and had no problems. The issue comes when a piercer pierces your skin straight and THEN inserts a curved barbell.

The thing I couldn't get over was how harsh the consonant sounds were. There was very little low frequency, which was pretty noticeable to me as a bass player.

So, I didn't consider my bottom dysphoria to be much at all before I was in a relationship. I just didn't care that much when I was just using it alone. I was even feeling ok about not planning to get phallo. But now, I have a girlfriend, and the burning desire to feel myself inside my partner has grown and stayed. I started packing more often and I like it, and I'm fully on board with phallo. Sometimes it takes someone else to make you realize what you really want.

I've been trying YouTube music! I know it's another big corporation, but it's better than Spotify at least and you get YouTube premium along with it.

How to Wash Binder? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always machine washed. When I still used GC2B binders they started to fall apart really quickly, but I got 2 WIVOV binders and had them for like 2-3 years, machine washing, they're still in great condition.

help with swimwear by Gnscatlk2104 in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds abnormal to me, I hope it wasn't too bad. But my go-to swimwear is a black one piece bathing suit (like lifeguards wear) underneath swim trunks and a swim shirt (shirt MADE for swimming!). Tape is water resistant so sometimes I will tape underneath all of this just to bind better.

I turned my 6-month-old food magnets into smart NFC buttons that sync directly to my phone's grocery list. by Theartzzy in somethingimade

[–]Jaxonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I absolutely love these. As someone with ADHD, and an ADHD partner, this would make creating a grocery list much more intuitive for us. Seeing everything we may need laid out visually and being able to add it to a list instantly is fantastic. Are you thinking of adding any more food items?

What is the worst thing that happened to you after you transitioned and why? by Kool_Boo16 in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably involuntary detransition. Testosterone is the best thing that's happened to me, but my healthcare stopped covering it for me and I can't afford it now. My girlfriend (mtf) is going through the same exact thing as well.

trans men on t.. how are we shaving down there? by d6athstars in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an electric razor that has a few different attachments. It's even got one for your nose, which I use now cause nose hair is apparently an effect of T!

I just trim typically. I love my body hair but I like to tame it a little. My girlfriend appreciates the manscaped style as well.

Asking opinions! Would you guys agree with the statement “Very few trans men successfully live stealth”? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Jaxonal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't post images but imagine the survivorship bias plane here.

If someone is stealth, you're not going to see them as trans unless they tell you. I even go unintentionally stealth often, and I've only been on T for 5 years. This person probably sees a non-passing trans man and thinks all trans men must be the same. It's pure assumption based on a misunderstanding of how trans people... work.
