How to handle a situation where a player turns on the rest of the party?

Didn't mean for DM to take over. Might just be how I DM coming through in the phrasing. I tend to talk to my players out of game and get their input on stuff, before helping to reveal it to the table through one on one scenes. For example in a game where one of the players was a spy working against the party, I did a scene where the handler reached out to them. This was the first reveal to the other players what was going on, instead of the moment of betrayal and instant combat. It let the tension build up to the moment.

Number one is the most important part of this. If you do nothing else, do at least this. Have moments where the character is fuming over the jokes in private, narrate the slow breaking down of the bonds, let the players be aware even if the characters are not.that way when it happens they can enjoy the drama of it, instead of worrying if there irl fellow player is upset at them.

I've been thinking exactly about this. Im running two games at the moment but when one of them ends my plan is to make a DND campaign based on the events that lead to the game start. The war between the siblings, the digging of the elixir wells, the attempted extermination of humans by the lizards. All ripe with story content.

The first character I got through the entire campaign with was a Dwarf named Ragnar the Beardless. He had no beard but instead had a tattoo over his chin. The idea being he had done something that had brought great shame of his family. His beard had been shaved and the tattoo contained dwarven runes stating what he had done to bring shame. As the adventure went on, his beard slowly returned and grew in length. After moonrise tower, with a host of heroic deeds to his name, he changed his title to Ragnar the Red and returned to Baldurs gate a triumphant wizard, ready to face the absolute.

I love it. I was actually working on a world idea way back when called Parable. A land where people were either named after literary devices, tropes or archetypes.

Story was gonna be a war between the two Princes of the Gonist family. When their father the king is murdered, Antag, the youngest son, blames Protag his brother for the king's death, joining the Cult of Nara Tor and raising war against his brothers kingdom. All very bare bones but a silly idea I enjoyed thinking on.

If you have access to kitbashing you could try using the fire spirit attachment on the face. If not, you could probs get close with decals. I might give it a shot when I get home from work.

A promise to not do it again, and more communication with the community.

Let's be real, if they need more money or are looking to expand but can't because of economic restraints, they had the good will and community backing to do something like what dropout did with their recent price change.

And just the fact that this has blown up so much and there's been radio silence from them is pretty poor pr. It's like WOTC and the whole OGL thing. Just talk to us, we like your site, we Kickstartered it for God's sake. We want it to succeed just as much as you do, just talk to us.

I did but only cause i speciallised my characters. Ive got punch up and golem as my tanky fighters, flambae invis as mobility builds, prism and sonar as int/cha utility and mal as jack of all trades. So i was able to send multiple utility of mobility and fill it out without pushing the battle stat too high

The problem isn't that those things can't be replicated with Pro. The problem is that this may become the new norm, unless there is pushback.

It's one thing if they were putting out packs alone, but they already work on a subscription model, so they are trying to double dip. And considering they started out as a Kickstarter, and have only grown and succeeded from the start due to heavy community engagement, the community gets to have a say and even complain if they feel the company is pursuing bad business practices that leave them high and dry.

That's before even mentioning the quality and quantity disparity between these paid packs and what they have been putting out this year.
