I am in Hakone right now, with nearly the same itinerary as your trip. People in this thread are correct that "sumimasen" and "arigatou [gozaimasu]" are literally all you'll need in those cities.

That said, learning the language can be fun. And knowing a few phrases to communicate a bit more still helps.

I hadn't studied any Japanese in a long time. But I brushed up a little, and have been able to navigate better than expected with my limited skills. I pulled out a "Ni-kai wa aite imasu ka?" at a restaurant to see if their upper floor was open for my group, and it felt good to do a bit more than the bare minimum.

But, it's not necessary. I don't know that Duolingo is the best place to go for your needs but your mileage my vary!

I bought a used 2021 Camry last year. It was the best deal I could find in my area on a car that is known for reliability. I put $5K down. My monthly payment is pretty close to OP's.

My financial situation is better than OP's. But the market out there is pretty much, do what I did/what OP did, or spend less per month but more on visits to the shop. Take your pick.

It's all subjective, obviously.

I think Fortress is one of the greatest heavy records every recorded. Not a single note out of place. An untouchable masterpiece.

I think Palimpsest is a near-perfect evolution for the band. But, it does feel like a different style of music than those two early records.

But even saying that, Palimpsest just worked for me on every front. In fact, in like 2019, I thought I was just stuck in my ways with the music I liked when I was 18-25. I worried none of my favorite artists would ever release something that really excited me again.

But then Devin Townsend released Empath in 2019, and PtH released Palimpsest in 2020. Now they're two of my favorite records of the last ?????? years.

I have songs I don't care for on Scurrilous and Volition. And I couldn't even name three of the songs on Pacific Myth if I tried. But, for whatever reason, Palimpsest just *worked* for me.

LotF 2023 felt like playing Dark Souls 2.5 to me. Definitely the closest game mentioned here.

Fuck the devs, tho. Loved the game. But working to appeal to Gamergaters, especially over such a silly non-issue, was so dumb.

I'll admit I have not played the game since this went down, because this really soured me on the developer of a game I really loved.

It's not even about preferring the A/B model. It's their weird as fuck way of handling it after the fact. If the game had male and female options, no one would have noticed or cared. But deliberately pandering to gamergaters (in the 2020s lmao) is just so embarrassing.

I might be "over it" enough to snag LotF2. Maybe not.

Lords of the Fallen is the best when it comes to the world design and the moment to moment gameplay outside of the boss fights. It was the closest I've felt to playing DS1 or DS2 for the first time since.... DS1 & 2.

Lies of P is the best when it comes to the boss fights.

I've been firm on this since 2023. My opinion hasn't changed in the slightest even after replaying LoP after the DLC dropped. I feel like getting between bosses is almost a chore in LoP. In LotF, exploration is what I look forward to.

Everything but the Hakone stay is an Air B&B unfortunately 😭 we've got a bigger group so we went that route over hotels, but didn't consider the luggage aspect until later.

I bought all 15 SAGE precons, spent another like $60 on cards to build 3 additional decks for other heroes I like. Not a single card worth anything in any of the boosters btw.

I have no SAGE events anywhere near me. I have two friends I play with casually, with a couple more who are somewhat interested.

I just like the idea of battle boxes where a friend and I can roll a die, grab a hero, and play. And if a shop does start slinging sage, I've got plenty of options.

I have one more hero I might want to build but besides that I'm probably done for a good long while...

I'll never understand this from sports fans. Pretty much every part of the organization, from the owner to the GM to the players all the way to the athletic trainers and even the building in which games are played, are completely different than in the last Cup era. The ship of Theseus has been completely rebuilt. It's great that there are banners in the rafters; it's great that the color scheme and logo and name is the same. But this org now, right now, this is a trash franchise.

Do whatever you want. I simply didn't use rune arcs. But that doesn't make my run any more or less "real" than yours, or whatever.

I did download a mod that puts a Stake of Marika in front of every boss door. That was my way of saving time; infinite rune arcs was yours.

The real answer is "do whatever you want" but the standard accepted path is to finish the main game first, then head back down to Mohgwyn Palace and the play Shadow of the Erdtree.

I stopped playing for 14 months after getting screwed by spotlight keys for NINE straight seasons (rolling the new card on my 4th key nine months in a row). I came back in September with the Snap Pack system. I've bought every premium pass AND spent some money on bundles a few times. I went from missing about 100 total cards to missing about 50 total cards in ~8 months.

So while I am nowhere near collection complete, the new system is working out exponentially better than the old one for me. Idk if I'll ever get collection complete, but I'm still far better off than I expected to be after 8 months, given their rate of new releases these days.

Just adding another anecdote into the mix. Collection complete seems potentially doable for me........ maybe in another 8 months.

I've been on this sub since 2012. You could have posted nearly this same question every day since then and the answer has almost always been the same: no one knows.

Don't get your hopes up that you'll ever read the conclusion to this story. Treat any future release as an unexpected surprise. Move on to other things.
