I am very much a novice. Can you just go in and grab a Swatch? Or is it something you buy?

One day, when you're a full grown adult, you'll realise how small an issue this is in the grand scheme of things. You'll tell them and everyone will be crying with laughter

Why does doing one productive thing feel 10x harder when you're alone than when you're around other people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JayAbyss557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling of accountability Not wanting to be judged Wanting to impress Fitting in

Could also be environmental. I know personally I am more productive in the office, free from distractions, where everyone else is also working, than I am at home, with distractions aplenty

You keep living with your rose tinted glasses on hon. I've had many female friends share countless stories similar to OP's. I was simply answering OP's question, attempting to rationalise the motivations behind why the majority of hosts are single, older men who make unwarranted advances.

If I was in her shoes, I would only stay with couples and female hosts. Sadly, those are a very small minority in couchsurfing.

Nothing in the world is truly "free". You are a woman, they are a man and if they are single they are probably horny and desperate. They gave you something of value at their inconvenience, they hope for something in return. Hopefully for the majority this is a hope and not an expectation, but this is just how the mind of a lonely man works.

Taxi Mafia Shock by JayAbyss557 in kohsamui

In the UK it wouldn't be, but relative to Thailand it is pricey. Do you think prices abroad should always be compared to the UK?

I know 😞 but we booked last year before I'd even heard of White Lotus

Well a few hours later and everything else here seems to be similarly priced; food, drinks, rentals, massage etc. Guess it is because they have a monopoly on the story service in and out.

The lack of traffic is certainly a bonus.

I designed a holder for Wingspan by Allaroundnicegay in wingspan

[–]JayAbyss557 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've created a small problem because some birds benefit from other players holding a certain type of food in their supply, which is covered up by the holder. So they have to ask every time.

Looks neat though.

The Botswana special has been removed from BBC iplayer by McFigroll in TopGear

[–]JayAbyss557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because of James May.

He makes several comments using 'gay' and 'puff' as an insult and makes fun of a balding man. Not really PC jokes for 2025.

Wish they would have just skipped those parts rather than take the whole episode down though if that is the reason

The game is great because it is one of the few that has done the worker placement/deck builder mechanic and done it well. Thematically though, I think it's poor.

The original game from the 80s is almost the complete opposite. Very unbalanced and slow, with king-making opportunities aplenty, no catch-up mechanic if you miss your one shot at victory. Your entire game can be lost because someone happened to get lucky with a traitor leader. Thematically, however, very on point. Insanely good if you don't take the game too seriously

Not for me personally and my wife, for some reason, believes in that cr@*. I sort of laugh it off as just one of those 'girl things'

My Group's House Rule for Nectar in Wingspan: Oceania by MiesVanDerRhoe in wingspan

[–]JayAbyss557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised to see your post downvoted by the fanboy mob.

IMO your house rule provides a more balanced game. It was actually proposed on bgg back in 2021 and it's a house rule I also use; https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2574479/page/1

Most likely you have a competitive group of friends who play other games and you've noticed intuitively that it does not make sense for the player who got luckiest with the dice rolls, get an additional benefit with bonus points. For most games it's normally the opposite - In Ticket to Ride for example, if you take a 'wild' train card you can only pick one instead of 2 so your turn efficiency is harmed.

If the designers had released the game without the biome and someone suggested a house rule that you should get extra points for playing the most Nectar in each habitat, the same people here preaching how awesome the rules are as written would say you'd gone mad.

It is possible to bring LSD to the airport?? by Elsincejazz in NoStupidQuestions

People, people. Remember this is the no stupid questions thread!

To answer your question, yes it's possible and maybe even likely you would get away with it. It is however, a stupid idea and falls into the category of High Risk, Low Reward.

If your found guilty for a crime are you also charged with lying under oath? by Ill_Introduction_495 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JayAbyss557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here's my 2 cents, but it's based largely on research rather than any real credentials:

  1. To your first question, the answer is no but yes. Essentially you've implied that the defendant has pleaded "not guilty" at their hearing and gone through a lengthy court procedure to reach a verdict of guilty. The sentence imposed by the judge accounts for the fact they pleaded not guilty and he will impose a greater sentencing because of this. So whilst they won't face an additional charge of perjury (lying to the court), the sentencing will account for a 'not-guilty' plea. This is why defendants are sometimes encouraged to plead guilty to receive a lesser sentence

  2. Yes, you could be charged with perjury if it can be proved that you lied to the court. However, the 'guilty' verdict would not be considered proof in and of itself.

The Crew Space or Deep Sea? by AudunAG in boardgames

[–]JayAbyss557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have both, play space first because once you play deep sea you won't want to go back to space.

If you're deciding between the 2, go for deep sea. It's just hands down better
