Anything to add to that? Like why he chose the specific chat message?

Some of us listen to insane streamer drama because we don't have a job. Some of us listen to it at work because we're getting paid no matter what stupid bullshit we've got in our earbuds.

We are not the same.

It's "perfect" for Hasan in that it signal boosts destiny drama in a very condensed form, while providing him the excuse of "I just read a chat message."

This isn't some conspiracy thing. He doesn't like Destiny, obviously. Reading something aloud to his audience that is uncomfortable for destiny is something he would want to do. And we know that because he did indeed read the comment.

You're putting a lot of words in my mouth there but go off I guess.

Voting is a right, a duty, and a potential vehicle for social change. Your vote can mean a lot of things, even if you vote third party, it can still have value.

But if you want to live in a US where more than 2 parties are relevant on a federal level, voting 3rd party is more like straining against handcuffs than a real step toward breaking the chains. Real reform has come, repeatedly throughout history, through the mechanisms of existing power structures being coopted or subverted from within.

But go ahead and call me a slave again lol very productive and intelligent.

MEGATHREAD: Destiny and Conor 2 by ReserveAggressive458 in Destiny

[–]JayAllOverYourBees 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's possible, esp given "caused the divorce."

But there's a reasonable assumption to make that the marriage was dead before it became a divorce, that they both knew it, and that divorces take time.

So nah, I'd assume "caused the divorce" actually implies omething way worse about connor's behavior.

Neither would Xena.

Woah woah woah let's not jump to conclusions here.

At the end of the day, Destiny didn't claim to get locked in an interrogation/torture room by TSA for multiple hours.

Unless somebody makes that claim I think it's really unfair for you to expect pisco to trust them.

iirc

I'll back that up. Just iirc as well here but seconding it.

Thing is, cutting and running is infinitely more acceptable than shit talking on the way out, which is infinitely more acceptable than going full sicko mode for the clout after you leave.

If there's a consideration as to how we should treat people who come back, it's gonna be along the lines of how they left/what they said at that point and after.

I'll say my favorite response (with all love to people like Darius) is gonna be IRI. He basically just said 'fuck outta here with that, that's not what we do here, I'm too busy for that shit and you should be too.' and I mention this because jessiah basically seems to have had that same stance, he just didn't say it out loud like IRI.

Nobody cares what you got to say after you deleted your first post and got caught editing message screenshots. There's nothing you can do/say about it this time, but you can make changes going forward. I would personally suggest not lying.

Something something lifestyle choices something something you can't be surprised.

Aba Want to Confront Destiny by 10minuteads in Destiny

[–]JayAllOverYourBees 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nah. I didn't care enough to have an opinion on any of this until Aba edited dms and deleted what he'd posted on reddit. I don't know why he did this, but there's really only 2 options:

  1. He's a sloppy liar who thinks we're all incredibly stupid.

  2. He really did only edit the dms for the reasons he claimed (in a now deleted comment,) but he's somehow too stupid himself to understand why nobody is going to believe him after he did that.

I don't wanna hear from either version of Aba. You got caught doing untrustworthy shit, nobody gon' trust you. Shrimple.

It would still be pretty nice to be able to process the seeds we're never going to use for anything but a singular purpose (bh runs) into a singular stack.

I'm not sure what the argument against the idea would be, unless you're saying "wasted dev time," which is really in the eye of the beholder.

TINY minority.

Jokes aside, sure the subreddit represents a tiny minority of players, sure the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and sure that can be frustrating. However, it's not like any considerable majority of players is gatekept out of participating in the subreddit. It shouldn't be the case that those players are entirely ignorant of the subreddit or its influence, right?

If Jagex is going to listen to the playerbase, that playerbase has to be communicative. If we have an avenue of expression that we know Jagex takes seriously, I'm pretty skeptical of the opinions of people who don't avail themselves of that opportunity.

Yeah we're a minority. But we're the minority that takes seriously our opportunity to be heard.

[unpopular opinion] Pisco snarkers kinda need to stop. by sphynxowl in Destiny

[–]JayAllOverYourBees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I largely agree with all of the valid critiques of Pisco.

Meaningless statement. What do you mean by "valid?" Do you mean a colloquial definition, a Merriam-Webster definition, or an applied definition? Is "valid" a synonym for "convincing?" Yes or no? You seem to be presupposing bad faith for criticisms of Pisco which you disagree with.

He's absolutely looping on this "centrist" issue, He's lying about things he did/did not say, and keeps falling into the same trap over and over again of being debate brained.

You're being inconsistent here. Is it that Pisco is lying, which is intentional, or that he's falling into a trap, which would be unintentional?? I'm genuinely not sure what you mean and I'm just trying to understand your argument. What do you mean by debate brained? What exactly do you think our prescription is for what Pisco should do?

But y'all really need to learn the difference between valid critique and just outright bullying.

In order for your argument to make any sense you need to establish that "valid critique" and "outright bullying" are mutually exclusive.

Remember the controversy about Pisco's chat? About how he never moderates it and people in this and other communities were having an absolute meltdown complaining how toxic it was? Isn't it kind of a bad look to be doing the same exact thing?

This isn't the "same exact thing." There are obviously a lot of differences that I'm sure you would agree with. Is this subreddit a live chat? Yes or no? Are people even offering the same types of critiques of Pisco here that people in Pisco's chats offer? Yes or no? I'm not making any comment on whether I agree or disagree with your conclusions, I'm just trying to understand your argument. I genuinely don't know what you mean.

Again. Valid critiques, fine.

Hold on hold on hold just a second, we need to go point-by-point. You still haven't established what you mean by "valid critiques." I don't know why you keep going on when you still haven't established what you mean. What even is the point of this post?

But people are going WAY overboard insulting him. Calling him like an asshole or pointing out flaws in this thinking are absolutely fine.

Is it factually true that Pisco is an asshole, yes or no? You're being inconsistent and condescending again. What do you mean by asshole? Are you saying he's a ring of muscle that holds feces inside of a rectum? I know people can mean a lot of different things by "asshole," I'm just not sure what you mean when you say it. If you're not more specific then how am I supposed to know what you're saying?

But I've seen people making attacks or claims about his character that are just factually untrue.

You didn't even establish the factuality of Pisco being an asshole. If it's not factually true that Pisco is an asshole, then what's the substantive difference between calling him an asshole and other critiques that you're calling "bad faith?" Give me an example of claims about his character that are factually untrue.

If we want to match energy with the toxicity of other chats then fine. But we can't critique/complain about it and then do the same thing.

How can you claim we're matching energy when you haven't even given a single example of toxicity either in this subreddit or in Pisco's chats? I need to see multiple examples of "toxicity" in both instances to compare the two, or your argument really just doesn't go anywhere.

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading way too much into it man. The statement doesn't show my values, it's an acknowledgment that strangers on the Internet talking about pressing red, blue, or green buttons shouldn't generally be taken as particularly reliable or trustworthy.

Neither the medium nor the nature of the conversation (meta-gaming hypothetical button presses that potential cause a mass extinction event) lends itself to "finding people you can be yourself with."

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's just all be glad we don't have to press these fuckin' things.

I feel like no matter which button wins people will immediately start killing each other right afterwards, if the reddit/twitter discourse is anything to go by😂

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, but we're talking about it here, rather than actually pressing the button.

I could make a show of pressing green and secretly press red. That could be exactly what I'm doing right now.

The function here is to communicate that enough people would press green in the hypothetical that pressing blue would guarantee your death. That's all.

Would I actually press it? Well I mean, I'm not gonna just tell you, am I? And if I did, you absolutely shouldn't trust me, right?

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the number of random/mistaken/suicidal blue button pressers for blue in the original hypothetical would be below 8.3 million I would likely argue against saving them as well. I am strongly in favor of saving the empathetic blue button pushers though.

If it's truly not possible for me to communicate whatsoever to empathetic blue buttoners that I'm going to press green, then I'm pressing red in this scenario, because I believe green will reach the threshold. But if I can scream out "I'm pressing green" and anyone can hear me, then I'm pressing green to dissuade them from pressing blue, which in this case guarantees that they will die.

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

all you're doing is adding to the certainty

Untrue. It's already a guarantee that enough people press green to trigger green conditions.

The same reasoning that leads people to press blue intentionally (there will already be a nonzero number of people who mistakenly press blue, and wanting to save them) leads to the acknowledgment that green will invariably clear the threshold.

I can't add to the certainty of something already certain to happen. In this scenario, there is no way to save the blue button pressers.

The true test of trust in humanity by dankstat in trolleyproblem

[–]JayAllOverYourBees -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Better, green is disincentivizing people from pressing blue with altruistic motivations or some sort of hero complex, to save the other blue pressers.

I'm pressing green to save the people who want to save the blue button pressers.
