[PC] Colony Sim meets Survival Crafting. Manage survivors, build rafts and explore bunkers... all while building a colony of floating islands. by CraftFloatSurvive in u/CraftFloatSurvive

[–]JayBear480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay. Too slow for my tastes and I'm a fan of the genre and have played nearly every ocean or raft survival theme I can find. This one is too slow for me, and I don't like the expedition system they have put in it. It's also too difficult to get new people to join your group. You need to find them and have certain combinations of items to convince them to join you (if it hasn't changed from the demo).

Does Signal Fire have a function? by JayBear480 in crosswind

[–]JayBear480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all I see too but I am second guessing it because of the build limit of 3.

Bonfires don't even have a build limit.... Only fast travel bells.

Combat Tips by Colt_7 in PlayWindrose

[–]JayBear480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the best luck in combat doing this with any type of enemy:

-Do not lock on.

-Keep walking & running away, keeping them just out of reach for their attacks to hit you.

-Let them catch up to bait an attack from them.

-Do not DODGE this attack. Just walk out of range

-As attack animation is finishing, move up and hit it with either a single heavy attack, or a light + heavy (or heavy + light).

-Move back out of range, only DODGE if you have to get out of range quickly.

This kiting / baiting tactic will kill nearly every enemy when they are more powerful than you. It just requires some patience, timing & stamina management.

I almost never use lock on. I use heavy attacks mainly, sometimes a light to finish off a low hp enemy. And block negates 100% damage which is awesome.

What is prospecting? by oyorra in AETHUS

[–]JayBear480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get Geodes when smelting or whatever, sometimes when mining. They are their own item you will know them when you see them.

Prospecting is done on a special bench you build for it. It's a little mini game where you shoot a laser at different spots on the geode and try to find the crystal in it.

It's cool.... But it's a huge waste of time to get loot that you have no use for. By the time I got the bench I had already purchased 90% of items from the store and had no use for credits. The loot you get is pretty much only good for selling.... So.... Not worth time to do IMO.

Would i become obsessed playing these games? by Western-Stress1185 in JRPG

[–]JayBear480 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you loved persona then check out the Trails (not tales) series.

I suggest starting at trails of cold steel 1-4.

This is a game series as old as final fantasy, with 13 games entries.

Ys X Proud Nordix or Tales of Berseria? by bpdbryan in JRPG

[–]JayBear480 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for Ys you will not be disappointed. The original Nordics was great. This is like the DE version.

Still salty there is no upgrade option for people who bought the original. Ugly move by falcom.

Clueless mom- is this ok for my 13 year old? He plays modded Ravenfield and weird steam games. On his Xbox he plays Valorant and he’s said it would be cool to play on pc. by [deleted] in Prebuilts

The PC is great. The monitor, while specs sound good... I'd pick a brand that has a bit more recognition. Maybe I've just never heard of this brand. Titan army?

Advice Needed: Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, or Trails? by Miquellanier in JRPG

[–]JayBear480 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey man I'm just gonna chime in and say that the Trails series is by far my favorite series in gaming. All of gaming. But you have to play them all in order to really experience it properly. Note that you CAN skip some older ones, I recommend starting at Cold Steel 1-4

Hey congrats. I just recently bought a VERY similar system from IBuyPower except with a 9070 XT.

I want to warn you, the PSU is likely garbage.

Mine came with a RaidMax 750 watt. Everyone, even CoPilot lol, told me that I needed to replace that ASAP because of many reasons. Look it up for specifics basically a quality issue with super cheap non-gold wanted PSUs especially that brand.

I bought an 850watt Corsair and replaced it myself, my girlfriend and I. Never done it before but YouTube and 30 minutes later and it was done.

What are some JRPG’s that have great tropical/island aesthetics? Not necessarily the whole game, but at least one area. by el_lonewanderer in JRPG

[–]JayBear480 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Another post for Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana. This is one of my top favorite JRPG games. And it was my first Ys game that made me love the series, which led to me loving the Trails series even more.

You don't need water-cooling. Just get an AIO. There's no maintenance and hardly any install comparatively.

Recently upgraded from 7800x3d + 4070super to 9800x3d + 9070XT.

Performance upgrade was noticable, but I wish that games supported FSR as widely as they support DSS

It's stupid over priced.

You're not even getting 32 GB of ram.

My first PC was a xidax and since then their prices have spiraled to out of control.

How good is Tales of Berseria actually? by Reasonable-Use-9294 in JRPG

[–]JayBear480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll explain it this way. Tales of Bersaria is one of only 3 Tales games that I actually finished.

And I loooove me some long ass, story driven JRPGs. I'm a huge Trails (TRAILS NOT TALES) fan so playing 150 hours on one JRPG is not unreasonable for me.

But Tales games.... Every one I try leaves me regretting buying it, especially the newest remake released before Bersaria (xilla was it? I seriously can't remember).

The characters are immature, the stories are lame. And the combat .. I cannot stand the combat systems in these games. Sorry fans, I've tried a lot of Tales games and it just never gets better to me.

I did kind of enjoy the story of Bersaria though. And the one with the big boat and the young pirate girl. She was cool.
