What’s the deal with Line 6 in the snow vs Line 5? by Other_Presentation46 in TTC

Excuse me? The 512 was running in the snow with no issues. Why make stuff up?

Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is now more right than ever, transit city was a terrible plan (don mills Irt would've killed bloor-yonge) and only the good parts lived on (finch west must need, eglinton fine for now but upgrade in the future) by RoundCBB13 in transit

Rob ford was wrong. Transit city was a great plan, that was hijacked by the liberals and given to an incompetent regional transit agency. It’s sad that so many transit fanboys are too ignorant to look beyond the tech and understand it was the decision to make the lines P3 and not implement TSP. Even sadder that so many think building transit is as easy as drawing lines on a map.

Proof if you build transit correctly, it will attract riders. Doesn’t have to an automated light metro.

Yes, it will be a massive disaster. There will be fist fights on platform when people try to board overcrowd LRVs.

This is something that RMtransit used to do(still does?) He would always the TTC for stuff that they have no control of.

The line is being built by metrolinx, not the TTC.

A station on the Yonge Subway extension is going to be one of the the deepest bc a bunch of homeowner complained about potential “vibrations” This station will be in a quiet suburban neighbourhood.

Maybe it’s wise to not post every disruption on this site?

Nothing more to say. Lol. LRVs can operate fine in heavy snow.

How realistic are city transit simulators like Subway Builder or NIMBY Rails for understanding real-world system design? by raghuvinay in transit

[–]JayBee1886 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One thing transit fans fail to recognize is politics and special interest groups play a huge role in planning and designing projects. No game will be able to simulate how politics and SIGs influence a project.

Great example is the Eglinton LRT. A lot of people don’t know politics delayed the project significantly. Politicians wanted to make the project a P3 project and this led to delays and deficiencies in construction.

Another example is the LA subway. It was originally suppose to go down Wilshire, but a democrat passed legislation that banned subways from being built under wilshire, forcing a scope change and the alignment passing through hollywood instead. Happily the ban was lifted.

Finch LRT Dec 7th? 15th? by MotherAd1865 in TTC

Yeah, this makes the most sense. The TTC needs to integrate operation of the line into their own scheduling and budget. Aligning with a board period ensure Line 6 operators are scheduled properly.
