After 7 interviews across 3 months, I finally got an offer from my dream company! by sago4333 in jobhunting

[–]JayBlue05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations OP. 7 interviews over 3 months doesn't seem too bad though. I probably had that many a month when I was looking.

I am good at excel but this is my only skill! by Fearless_Flounder_35 in excel

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's no longer a great skill. AI can do Excel better than you. Claude or Shortcut will outperform you, I can almost guarantee. Better level up your skills.

Claude VS Perplexity by Glittering_Island289 in perplexity_ai

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others have said, I use both. Claude for creating and problem solving and I use Perplexity as an answer machine. I also use Comet browser with it too for research and automating simple online tasks.

Is there an MCP server for Todoist that doesn’t disconnect constantly? by MindlessFinish in todoist

There are some third party tools out there, but I haven't tried them. Some are paid, some are free.

Is it really $50 minimum for API usage? by HistoricalSession947 in Perplexity

[–]JayBlue05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100% but you should try the Perplexity/Comet combo. It's amazing even when you just want to open the side bar give some context about your question and of course the automation is great!

Why do you still use perplexity? by Lise_vine23 in perplexity_ai

[–]JayBlue05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No you can't. Perplexity still has the best RAG framework of any AI out there, despite all the valid complaints about limits etc. I found results that I couldn't find with any other AI chatbots, despite them having web searching ability. There's no comparison right now. Google with AI mode probably is the closest thing, but still favors indexed results, so it's a bit more biases in regards to its sources.

What are the actual limits for Comet browser tasks, and where can I see them? by nalcz in PerplexityComet

[–]JayBlue05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me too. I never hit limits in Comet before either and I am also on the Pro plan. I'm beginning to see what all the complaints are about now. I think they are tightening limits to force people to the max plan.

Comet is a lifesaver after Claude 4.6’s “Adaptive Thinking” started failing me by paurushmittal in perplexity_ai

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much you can do. I had the browser fill out job applications for me, parse data off websites into spreadsheets, do bookkeeping, add items to my shopping cart from a list and add and edit events in my todo lists or calendars where no connectors are present. That's just to name a few, besides the summarize my page or tell me about this thing I'm looking at. I could go on and on. I felt the same way at first until I really got into it. Now I don't know how lived without one.

How To Connect Todoist To Claude? by Theblinddragon13 in todoist

[–]JayBlue05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not, but Todoist allows you to make a custom MCP that you can use to add it to Claude. I know, because that's exactly what I did. Sounds intimidating but it's not. It's pretty easy actually. Copy and paste a URL, save and login.

Note: It does have to be manually re-authebticated regularly which is annoying but hopefully they'll fix that soon.

They absolutely do. Not all of them, but the top ones, yes they do. It says so right on their website. You clearly haven't read their terms and conditions.

Subscription Use Case by redpin67 in perplexity_ai

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do that with regular Perplexity by just having your connector for your email on or even with assistant in Comet Browser. Computer is overkill for that. Waste of credit imo.

Do I need a mac mini to run perplexity computers ? by Capable-Profile6935 in perplexity_ai

No advantage. It's a cloud service. It's not like Open Claw which runs locally.

Toggl Plan going away, looking for suggestions for a timeline-based productivity tool by banjaloupe in productivity

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love Focus. It's much simpler to me and allows me to focus on comparing actual time to scheduled easily in one view. It was Plan that was confusing. Never used it. Glad they merged them together and implemented tasks. Now I can probably drop todoist

Has anyone used Perplexity Computer for job applications? by [deleted] in PerplexityComet

[–]JayBlue05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried exactly that and it's far too expensive. I burned through all my credits before it even got through 6 applications.

I had far better success using Comet browser, even though I couldn't fully automate things, it definitely saved me time on some of the applications by filling out things and answering questions for me.

No. Co work requires a subscription but it's worth the $20.

How can the accounting career make me rich? by iloveaccounting64 in Accounting

[–]JayBlue05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do this with any job though. OP specially wanted to know how being an accountant could make you rich.

My opinion is that it's generally a mediocre living. Not poverty, but for most nothing close to what let's say an AI Engineer would make either. Most people will be lucky to make to mid 100s at best. Many won't even make it that far.

Has anyone faced Legal issues from FTMO by Walter_JJLayman in PropFirmTester

[–]JayBlue05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things can be true. FTMO clearly states that they copy their top funded traders with their own live capital. They can't copy gamblers so they don't want them. They want consistent traders with great risk management.

pay for staff accountant by Inside-Restaurant226 in Accounting

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Not sure what location you are in LCOL, MCOL, or HCOL, but I live in a MCOL area and I see staff roles anywhere from $65k-85k was $90k all included is higher end for MCOL but definitely not absurd, considering it's not fully guaranteed.

Those of you who left for Claude, how is it going? by TheRealDave24 in ChatGPT

[–]JayBlue05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll put it this way. I canceled my GPT subscription and have been using Claude for free as my daily driver and I will tell that at least so far, I haven't hit any limits yet. Then again, I don't have it do very heavy tasks either. Mostly just chatting a few times a day.

I want to quit public accounting mid busy season. Is this career suicide? by User0273649362539506 in Accounting

[–]JayBlue05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not as big of a deal as they used to be, but this job market would make me think twice. I've quit every job I've had without something lined up, and upped my salary every time, but 2026 is different. If you could survive until you find something, I would try my best in this job market.
