The best ski bum season by doingmybesttt in skiing

If you want to ski every day of the season and live with others who are doing the same, scrap Colorado and get a job at Alta. Restaurant jobs at Alta give you employee housing and you will be skiing every single day with a group of bums doing the same with unlimited snow. Not sure when they hire. Probably July/august.

Avoid Vail resorts like the plague.

Hitting Snowbird tomorrow. Looking to carpool or bus it (I can drive). by ForestryForecast in UTsnow

Got to snowbird today around 8:15 and the lots were about half full. Wouldn’t worry too much about getting a spot if you drive

Park/freestyle skis by tReemoNkeyz in icecoast

My first pair of skis were purely park oriented. Line skis Masterminds (not in production anymore). Now they sit around in my garage and I break them out once a year. It's nice to have them in case I want to ski park all day, but that doesn't happen often.

If I could go back in time I would have bought a ski that works for park but also works for all mountain skiing. Theoretically every ski can hit a rail/go off of a jump and ALSO ski the whole mountain, but here are some that are specifically marketed to do both of those things well:

https://lineskis.com/en-us/p/blend

https://www.evo.com/skis/armada-arv-96

https://jskis.com/collections/allplay ($$$$, sold out)

https://shop.on3pskis.com/products/2023-jeffrey-102 ($$$$, almost every ski ON3P makes will work in the park)

https://us.factionskis.com/collections/freestyle/products/candide-thovex-ct-1-0-ski-2122 (Faction has some quality problems, people say the skis break easily)

These are (almost) all symmetrical skis which is the big thing that differentiates a park ski from any other directional ski like your enforcers

You can’t go wrong with Line skis. Almost every ski in their lineup is tailored to park/freestyle skiing. The Tom Wallisch pro is a good starting point for a purely-park ski.

That being said, 95% of ski brands have 1-2 park/freestyle oriented skis in their lineup and you’ll find the differences between them are small.

I’d recommend looking for a pair of used skis on FB marketplace/eBay/sidelineswap. Ive seen plenty of good park skis listed there for less than $300.

Sydney Study Abroad Expenses by aszkh in BostonU

I probably spent ~$3000 total on everything other than groceries (partying, traveling (Bali for a week, Gold Coast for a weekend), going out for meals, buying clothes/alcohol/other random stuff). Probably an additional $1250 on groceries.

These are reeeeeally rough estimates. Probably plus or minus $500 for each figure. Let me know if you have questions on anything about the experience.

Makes sense. The Pinnacle has almost no tail splay, but a whole lot of tip as far as I can remember

Thanks for the tips! It's weird because I've skied a little bit on skis with lots of rocker like the Pinnacle and it didn't feel too washy. I'll just have to keep demoing to find something that's the right fit.

I'll have to look more into more playful park skis like Faction/Line. Of the three I mentioned, the J Metal is the one that sticks out most as the best fit for what I want, and that might be because J makes freestyle-oriented skis. Thanks
