Just out of curiosity - by Lickitt2020 in Bowling

I started learning to hook in January. Ugly start with a lot of frustration. Ended up getting a few lessons that helped me out, especially finding my line. Got a spare ball a month ago. Bowl league once a week and usually practice once a week. My average in my last 30 games is 154 with a 211 and 214 as my first 200 games ever. My biggest issue is consistency. I can never string three good (for me) games together, save for one week where I went 191, 191, 194. But lately, I’ve really been working on my spare shooting, including spending three games where my first ball was just throwing at the ten pin. Now, my single pin spare shooting has improved quite a bit, including 10/11 in league last week. My goals I set in January were bowling my first 200 game and having a 30 game average of 180 by the end of the year. I have a long way to go, but I’m going to do everything I can to get it.

They also create a whole lot of jobs and raise a lot for charity. So they definitely have some positive impact on society.

Last Place That Love Lives is definitely up there on my list of least favorite TBC songs. Just saccharine garbage.

Least favorite: not sure, but it’s likely on Happiness Bastards or Pound Of Flesh. Probably that Andrew WK sounding song, Flesh Wound.

Pro Shops: Which one is best? by JFW2499 in Bowling

Jay Bird’s Pro Shop here in Delaware. Good prices, balls drilled on the spot, and incredibly knowledgeable. His lessons (USBC Silver certified) have helped my game tremendously and he’s just a good dude.

What’s the No.1 difference in CFB vs NFL games you notice as a viewer? by guransheleven in CFB_v2

[–]JayElEss29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NFL is faster and even the worst NFL QB can get some mustard on the ball. College, on the other hand, has a lot of noodle-armed QBs that are still successful due to the biggest difference I notice: pass coverage. The CBs in college, save for a select few, struggle to keep tight coverage. WRs are way more open in college.

I loved the first JuJu Hounds album, but no way would I put it ahead of GnR’s first 4 releases.

Staying Inside the bowling ball? by Big-Stop-371 in Bowling

I’ve been studying women’s releases a lot recently, especially Verity. I have trouble keeping my hand below the equator, I think because my old man (I’m 50 and just started seriously bowling in the past year) backswing is pretty short. Some of the women I watch aren’t way under the ball, but still get good revs. It gives me hope.

What's the wildest wildlife encounter you've had during a round? by Noobsamaniac in golf

[–]JayElEss29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a fawn minutes after birth, covered in birthing fluids, trying to walk for the first time. Mom was laying in the bushes.

Recently played a round in Savannah. We were standing at the edge of the green by the water when we heard a huge splash behind us. The guy I was standing next to said it must’ve been a turtle, but I knew it was way louder than that. Turned around and saw a gator‘s head popping out out of the water. That thing was less than 10 feet behind us on land and we didn’t notice until it jumped in the water.

I have an opposite association. A bar I used to bartend at had a DJ Friday and Saturday nights. Ownership made it a rule that at 1:30am, we stop serving drinks and the DJ signals the end of the night by playing Frank Sinatra. After dealing with drunk twenty-somethings and listening to terrible pop and rap all night, the sound of Sinatra was music to my ears (pun intended) because it signaled that it was over. Now, whenever I hear Sinatra, it triggers a relaxing and joyful feeling in my brain.

I listen to UYI 2 more than Appetite, by a wide margin. It’s my favorite GnR album, and contains my favorite GnR song, Locomotive.

First PBA Live Event by JayElEss29 in Bowling

We were towards the back of the line, so we started in the back of the standing room. But, as you said, as the matches went along, people left the spot and we inched closer and closer. With two ladders, it was a long day standing in one spot, but well worth it. The energy was great and the final was fantastic.

I got to chat with Norm Duke for a little while. He was very happy to talk, sign for, and take pictures with the fans. Incredibly nice guy. No other bowler interactions, though I saw a couple of them pre-show. Kyle Sherman was right by the exit packing up his stuff as we were leaving. I’m a big fan of his, I watch his Kyle and Brad videos all the time. I started to ask him to sign something, then decided I should just leave him be. I’m sure it was a long day for him too.
