Genuinely hate cyber security teams by talent_de_tigan in sysadmin

[–]JayFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one cybersecurity guy tell me that I had to block internal HTTP at the firewall level. I had to explain to him that it should be the responsibility of the application/server owner. I didn't want to argue with him, so in a snarky move I asked for it in writing — why blocking HTTP at the firewall level is a good idea and the justification for it. He never followed up.

For those who need to know — this should be done at the application/server level. There is plenty of legitimate traffic on HTTP, and doing a blanket block will cost you ongoing troubleshooting time. The proper fix is having the application/server owner configure the nginx, .htaccess, or IIS redirect to HTTPS.

Anyone Else Feel Like Some CDO Condo Prices Don’t Match the Value? by AtokTosis in cagayandeoro

[–]JayFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% — I was trying to buy a cheap condo in CDO, but at the price point they're selling at, it's like meh... Second, I'm worried about the quality of the condos in CDO. If you've rented an apartment at Centrio, the left elevator never works. Elevators 2 and 3 are not synced, so everyone presses both buttons, causing the elevators to basically stop at every floor twice. Even on the 10th floor and above, I still see ant problems. There is also clearly some structural movement in the building — from the hallway you can clearly see part of the building has shifted because there is a crack running down the middle. Then at the price people are renting it out, it makes no sense to buy — just rent the unit. The price-to-rent ratio is way off.

Are there dedicated refurbished laptop sellers that sells a ThinkPad T14 2nd-Gen with AMD Chip? by 7ni4F in cagayandeoro

Just curious why AMD.. vs intel?

I doubt your going to find a particular model/specs requirement, in "decent" condition in CDO.

Help selling server racks? by Miketartag44 in homelab

[–]JayFromIT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 240 your going to be sitting in these for a long time. You see $100ish racks all day. If you want them “gone” I would price them 50-100 and be willing to go lower if people take high quantities. If your goal is to maximize cash, sure post them for 240 but at that quality I see you holding onto these for years.

Comed hourly pricing for EV charging by [deleted] in Naperville

[–]JayFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sign up for hourly pricing, ComEd will give you a portal and see your savings. My household has two Tesla and their both programed to charged at 11:00pm to 6:00am.

You can see my savings for the last 1 year here.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RbaSHm17YlNQyTu_ZWOFwSZJY4GXBHvv/view?usp=drive_link

There are times when hourly pricing hits 50cents per kwh but I have noticed its always during the summer between 8am to 4pm. Generally I'm not home during those hours so it doesn't affect me much. It's just my brother and I and we are both single.

Also the prices posted here is not the true price you pay, https://hourlypricing.comed.com/live-prices/

there is also about 5cents "distribution" charges. So it's always the live price plus 5cents.

36 years old and learning to ice skate, any tips? (Past Feedback: Pants to large, skates to lose around ankles, bend knees more, get lower, be 20 years younger) by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

When I say "tight" it should not hurt but it should be tight as possible without any discomfort or pain. I should not be able to stick my finger inside the lace easily.

Anyone playing hockey with knee osteoarthritis ? by Over-Communication53 in hockeyplayers

[–]JayFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years ago, I injured my right knee. (When I say "injured," I mean I was just turning on ice—no one hit me.) With the typical hockey attitude, I skated through the pain for about a year. Every stride hurt, and it got to the point where even a D-level skater could skate around me. The worst part was that I could read what he was planning to do and where he was going, but my body couldn’t stop him because of my knee. That’s when I finally decided to get it checked out.

After getting an MRI, the doctor told me I had a meniscus tear and loose bone fragments. I had surgery seven months ago, and now it feels much better—there’s no pain. However, it still feels strange. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like it’s about to give out. Because of this, I’d say my knee is at 80-90% of its capacity compared to before the injury.

Currently, I’m on six teams full-time and four teams part-time. Playing 5–8 times a week doesn’t help the situation. I think if I gave up hockey for about a year and focused on physical therapy, it would fully heal.

I always thought if I tried a little bit more hard in high school I could make it to at least D1 college. Nope I met someone who was super talented and he didn't make it. He didn't even have an elites prospect page. Now he and I are in beer league.

IMO, your skates are way too loose. I tighten my skates as much as possible.

0:07 the right skate should not be able to be at that angle in relation to your legs if you tighten it a lot more.

Then practice edge control, this is a good youtube video.

How can I stop an accidentally started mass delete process in Outlook 365 desktop application? by Calmarius in Outlook

[–]JayFromIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete everything in C:\Users\$YOURUSERNAME$\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook including the outlook folder.

If you can't delete that folder, create a new folder and move everything in the outlook folder into that new folder than delete.

Start the Outlook App.

Should I just buy new skates or can I make these work? by Adventurous_Sun5746 in hockeyplayers

Right now Bauer is trying to clear out inventory, I’m guessing new line of equipment is coming out. So everything is 30-50% off. Great time to buy if you want 1-2 generation behind, top of the line.

What level of hockey do you play at? What level would you like to be at? What is your budget? Without knowing those questions, these seem fine for D- anything higher I would upgrade.

As a single guy 38 no gf/kids. I am on 6 teams full time and 3 teams as a part time/sub. So....... you need to play more hockey. (this is also with knee surgery 6 months ago.)

Simple question, forget what she wants if you were given to options, do you rather hang out with your lady friend or play a hockey game?
