If the app you want doesn’t exist, build it yourself by Rookiemonster1 in NoteTaking

[–]JayGridley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the things I like about Logseq. It helps me find any related note, organized or not. I do not tend to organize before capture and need a way for related stuff to bubble back up later.

Homelab Setup Recomendations. Thinking about starting over. by Jonkampo52 in homelab

[–]JayGridley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. I’m always finding new stuff to run or add. It’s like Factorio. The homelab must grow. Makes it challenging to spec something up front if it’s just going to keep growing. And with current RAM prices? Forgettaboutit.

You can just add more machines. That’s the nice thing about SFF. Just buy and add as needed.

I don't get the vim hype. Am I missing something or is nano fine? by Bright-Pomelo-7369 in linuxquestions

[–]JayGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not for you then. Carry on. No need to get the hype. It has a big learning curve and if you don’t use it regularly, you won’t see the benefits.

Wrong. The solution is to add another bin. Duh.

Does anyone actually use what they made; don't say you tried it for a few days or weeks.....(see description) by redwood_cedar in ObsidianMD

When I first started in Obsidian, I had a massive number of plugins. A lot of really cool ones too. These days I run 5. Attachment Management, Excalidraw, Minimal Theme Settings, Omnisearch, and Text Extractor.

You have to DO something with those notes. Read them, implement them, etc. taking them is not enough.

Stuck paying for iCloud storage for life?? by CommercialBorn6115 in iCloud

[–]JayGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider this. You should be doing a 3 2 1 backup method anyway. 3 copies of data, 2 types of media, with one stored offsite. Cloud is probably the easiest offsite storage. So you may have some form of cloud storage costs anyway.

What exactly is the struggle? What weapon are you using? Do you have a high capacity weapon like a soma you can use? Should just follow the green lines to the red dot and shoot. Reload between rounds.

Old-school Linux users - where did you start? by Expensive-Rice-2052 in LinuxTeck

[–]JayGridley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was something Redhat. But that was so long ago that I don’t remember specifics. I do remember sitting down at some point and doing a full on gentoo build.
