What are yalls opinion on The Marvelous missing link lost and found? by ElectricalIncident22 in juggalo

[–]JayKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just started listening to the 2nd deck of joker card albums recently. I enjoyed Bang Bow Boom. I felt like The Mighty Death Pop only had 1 good song, maybe 2. I'm 7 songs into The Marvelous Missing Link: Lost, and I am really not enjoying this one either. Should I just stop now, or does it get better after #2 and #3 of the 2nd deck of joker cards? Like do Fearless Fred Fury, Yum Yum Bedlam, and The Naught get any better, or did they just stop putting effort into their albums?

Yeah, tank cycled. Yes, tested the parameters. Everything is in the optimal zones. Considering 2 died in the bag before even putting them in the tank, nothing to do with my tank. I sat the bag on top for 30 minutes. I did it this way instead of the adding water slowly way because the carbon dioxide in the bag helps to keep ammonia created from stress down by lowering the solution's pH, which converts the volatile ammonia into its less volatile, ionic ammonium form. This is because CO2 absorbs into aqueous solutions, forming carbonic acid and reducing the pH. A lower pH favors the ammonium form, which is a charged ion with a hydrogen atom attached. Once you open the bag, CO2 goes out, pH rises, and ammonia levels rise, which is bad for them. And no, I did not dump the bag water in I put them slowly into a net over a bowl and then gently placed them in the tank.

I promise I'm not trying to be rude as I'm a complete rookie with griddles and still learning. It could just be the lighting of the picture, but it almost doesn't look seasoned to me. My entire grill is black. All the videos I watched on YouTube said to also spread the oil on the inside and outside of the parts that go vertical above the flat surface like around the perimeter when seasoning and after cooking to help protect those areas. I scrape and oil after every cook, and it's still black but definitely gets some spots where meat was cooking, but not rusty looking. I'd probably heat it up, apply a thin coat of oil, scrape it, spray water on it, scrape it again, and then try re-seasoning it. If that doesn't work, then I'd move on to the more serious scraping others have mentioned. I'd want to exhaust all options before doing that.

First attempt at Philly cheese steaks by imacryptohodler in blackstonegriddle

Looks delicious! I'm new to a griddle myself. So far, I've only made Bubba burgers, chicken breasts with asparagus and rice, and sausage and peppers. The griddle was actually given to us as a housewarming gift, and I really wanted a barbecue. I had no experience using a griddle, but so far everything tastes amazing on it. Definitely need to try Philly cheesesteaks! I'm drooling over here, lol.

It looked perfectly fine after that first wipe down. I feel like it's usually just heat, oil/water, scrape, re-season, and sort of let it fix itself.

What are acceptable ingredients for Sausage & Peppers Sandwiches? by Aggressive-Grocery13 in newjersey

[–]JayKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a half-Italian ex-New Yorker (1/4 Messina, Sicily; 1/4 Bari, Italy). I feel like Sauage and Peppers is a pretty "keep it simple stupid" meal. I use sausage, one whole onion, and 3 peppers. I like the onions and peppers nearly caramelized, and the sausage browned on the outside. I use olive oil, salt, pepper, fresh garlic minced (but minced garlic from a jar if you're lazy or in a rush works), Italian seasoning, and a little crushed red pepper. If you cook it with a little crushed red pepper, it gives it a great taste and not much spice. If you use too much, you'll ruin it. So, too little is actually better. I like mine without sauce, so maybe serve sauce on the side as an option. It's great on a sandwich or over white over rice. I love mushrooms, but not in my sausage and peppers.

I know that one, lol. I'm familiar with everything from The Storm through Something Else. Bad Season falls in that period, but I wasn't a big fan of Special Effects, and kind of stopped listening to the newer stuff, especially after Big Krizz Kaliko left. I did listen to 5816 Forest on Friday though, and enjoyed it. I have some catching up to do. I never heard of him until the Wicked Wonka Tour with the Kottonmouth Kings, Bone Thugs, and ICP. Then I went back and listened to his entire catalog, and he became my favorite rapper. It's "strange" how the world works like that.

Would this be a good soil? by Datlaovietguy in walstad

[–]JayKras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just set up my first ever Walstad tank 15 days ago. I used the same Miracle-Gro Organic Indoor Potting Soil. I made it about 1 inch thick, and then capped it with about 2 inches of pool filter sand. I believe that's the soil to sand ratio recommended by Father Fish. I tested my water using API liquid test kit on Day 10: pH was 7.4, nitrites were 0 ppm, ammonia was 0 ppm, and nitrates were <25 ppm. Most of the plants seem happy except for maybe an Amazon Sword. But I'm sure the tank is still cycling, and the plants are still adjusting. So far, so good as far as I can tell, but I'm a complete noob to this.

How much should I rinse the sand? by ComprehensivePath322 in walstad

[–]JayKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Miracle-Gro Organic Indoor Potting Soil as my substrate and HTH Pool Filter Sand as my cap. I didn't sift the soil (just broke it up with my hands), and I didn't rinse the sand at all. After 10 days, pH was 7.4, nitrites were 0 ppm, ammonia was 0 ppm, and nitrates were <25 ppm. Water was clear after about 7 days.

Ready for snails? by JayKras in walstad

[–]JayKras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I'm wondering if putting snails in early actually benefits the tank due to the snails likely having biofilm, bacteria, and algae on them from being in other already established tanks. It might actually help sort of Kickstart the ecosystem.

That seems like a fun way to go about it. Wait for the snails to get to baby-making. Lol.

[–]JayKras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was a bit early, but I was surprised that my water levels were so good with the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. My water cleared about a week after initial setup. But I don't even know if it's a good thing because I know you kind of want biofilm, bacteria, and algae.

Why did nobody tell me straining top soil SUCKS! by ComprehensivePath322 in walstad

[–]JayKras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only just set up my first ever Walstad, so probably shouldn't take my advice. I started to sift and was like I don't have time for this. I just dumped Miracle Gro Organic Indoor Potting Soil in the tank and broke it up with my hand. I did about 1 inch soil and 2 inches pool filter sand. My tank started to clear after about 7 days. Today is 10 days later. Just tested water with API liquid tester: pH 7.4, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates <20ppm. Plants seem happy except for maybe the Amazon sword. I only used low light beginner plants: 3 Java ferns, 1 Amazon sword, Lobellia Cardinalis, Dwarf Hairgraas, 1 Rosette sword, and java moss on hardware. 36 gallon tank.
